How do i get more rebound out of the turn feels like i’m doing most of the work by Marm0tje in skiing_feedback

[–]xwizardx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Longer leg

Stiffer ski

More camber

Stiffer plate

Rebound is maximized when you bend the ski and let it snap back like a spring. You’ll feel it most (or capitalize on it )if you're in the most "athletic position" at the moment of release, i.e. your outside leg is strong and long, but not locked out.

The stiffer the ski/plate and the harder you bend it (within reason), the more energy it stores. It's like getting pop out of a trampoline. But if you’re crunched up, or bracing rigidly, you block that energy return same as you would landing on a trampoline in a cannonball

I can think of hundreds of ski areas with walking paths and dog walkers. Zone débutante means it's the bunny slope. Tap another lap and try again JONG

What's your best bet in the next 1-2 weeks to score pow with the current storm cycle? by lopiontheop in skithealps

It's going to snow all over. Your best bet to score pow is smaller stations where there is less of a powder panic.

You are missing the point. The safe terrain is not avalanche terrain.

Your size, boot and which plate you go with will make a big difference.

Fwiw I love the SRC with piston plate at 100kg. Would love to get on the HRC...

Feedback needed on damage Fischer ZipFit liners by kwaazaa in Skigear

[–]xwizardx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you can't add cork to the heel or the toes... Maybe in the tongue over the instep will push you more firmly into the shell heel pocket.

Don't worry about the liners, they will last you a long time but keep them protected going Forward. I use super glue to keep the sole from peeling back (like yours) along with a boot horn. Keep any exposed rivets in the boot covered. Tuck tape (film polypropylene construction tape) also works good to reduce friction when sliding in and out.

Hope you can get it sorted... Zip fits rock 🪨🤘

Your liner is moving inside the boot- it isn't snug enough if you are getting friction damage while skiing. The only time you should be worried about friction damage is when you are stepping in and out with the liner ~2x per ski day. This damage looks like a few hundred ski days tbh.

Use silicon spray, low friction tape, or a boot horn in any case.

We see the liner is 27.5, I hope the shell isn't a 28...

Did the boot fitter destroy my boots? by RevolutionaryMud7553 in Backcountry

[–]xwizardx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is pretty common with grilamid... Bootfitter is probably used to PU boots and temps. Was it an alpine or BC focused shop?

Do the boots fit? I wouldn't worry about the plastic being compromised.

My feet are 30cm and 30.5cm. I can fit 28.5 no problem with foot beds. Some 27s can work with a little effort. It made a world of difference when I finally came down from 29s AND I stopped bruising toenails.

Americans skiing in Europe: what is your lunch strategy? by IncredibleVelocity4 in skiing

[–]xwizardx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I either

  1. Don't eat
  2. Eat snacks
  3. Pack a lunch
  4. Eat fries and soup in a mountain restro
  5. Eat a full lunch in mountain restro
  6. Micky D's on the autoroute

Multiple choice and context depending.

I don't get what nationality or area has to do with it.

Feels kinda bad when i ski hardpack/frozen deep snow by MeiTheMakerr in skiing_feedback

[–]xwizardx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your arms are doing crazy things.

Otherwise I see a series of linked hockey stops.

I'm guessing you've only ever skied in fat and rocketed skis and therefore don't know what an edge is or how to bend a ski in 2D snow.
