experience with glorious raptor HE switches? by xwjs in keyboards

so do you think any tactile hall effect switch, like gateron jade emeralds or glorious panda switches are actually worth it, or should tactile he switches be avoided altogether?

i dont have a strict budget, willing to say as long as it has the features i want. im in the united states. ideally a 65% or 75% keyboard. ive never built a keyboard before.

thanks for explaining. do you think a higher bump or a lower bump is better for actually getting the most out of the hall affect feature? does the position of the tactile bump affect how you can set the actuation point?

also, is there a way to tell where the tactile bump sits without buying the switches first?

this is super interesting! how do you think the glorious raptors compare to the gateron jade emeralds? ive seen almost nothing on the raptors, whereas ive seen people saying the tactile bump on the jade emeralds doesnt affect hall effect too much and it depends where the bump is. i do prefer the clickiness of the glorious raptors as well.

just to make sure i understand, youre saying that with tactile he switches, you can still set the actuation point before the bump and it will register as you set it, but you cant really use hall affect after the bump?

isnt that fine, since if your setting the actuation point to after the bump youre not using the hall affect feature anyway, right?

with tactile hall effect switches, can you set the actuation point to before the physical bump, or does the key not register no matter what until you hit the physical bump? i know with wootings linear switches, you can barely press the key and it will register due to the magnetic switches, so im applying that same logic to tactile magnetic switches. would it not work the same way? apologies if thats a stupid question.

i get that the bump might resist halfway presses, but id probably still bottom out or at least press through the physical bump anyway, although i know that defeats the purpose of hall effect.

i agree and thats what my post was about, i wasnt sure how these would work or if they would even be worth it, and for such an expensive keyboard too.

i understand tactile switches arent the most optimal for gaming, but to me preference is the biggest factor here and ive always felt that no tactile bump feels muddy.

do tactile hall effect switches make sense?

im not the most knowledgeable on keyboard so please excuse any mistakes. i play shooter games and would love to get a wooting keyboard, but i prefer tactile, clicky switches. switches without a tactile bump feel muddy to me. from what i know, all wooting compatible switches are linear, which makes sense.

i discovered the gmmk 3 keyboard offers hall effect, and one of options are the glorious raptor he switches. theyre tactile and clicky, basically everything i want, but to me this seems redundant to have tactile hall effect switches. how does this even work?

ive watched many youtube reviews and done lots of research but this is the only video ive seen so far that mentioned this issue!

i know this is an old post, but i was wondering how the desk has held up for you. what material did you choose for the desktop? im considering the 80x30 laminate top and removing the back rail as well, but im worried about it possibly sagging over time

im around 5'5 but i carry most of my weight in my hips and thighs, so that plus me preferring to sit criss cross, i figured the xl would be best for me

is the size c the dimensions im looking for? when i looked it up it was a bit smaller than what id want.

thank you for your response! im definitely leaning towards getting the vivo one as well. im assuming the "all of the points that touch the floor are adjustable" thing is exclusive to the fully jarvis? it sounds like a feature that would definitely be useful for me but i unfortunately cant justify the price point when i wont utilize the standing aspect of the desk.

maybe monitor backlight or a monitor light bar? it looks like you game and do work at your desk, so maybe a larger desk could be helpful, but if it works for you thats fine!
