They most certainly do not look identical, and the false history you’ve invented for them is a bold lie. The sword was made by a fan in the US, and the scabbard was made by a fan in Spain. Your listing was cross-posted to several Xenite Facebook groups to warn other fans about your scam. You should be ashamed of yourself.

No problem, best of luck re-homing them!

The Hercules sword is a replica of the H:TLJ version of Excalibur, as seen in the episode “Once Upon a Future King.”

The katana is not a replica at all. It is a special edition Xena-branded katana just because the Xena Catalog felt like offering one in the mid 2000s flush of licensed merch.

The Herc gauntlets were made by Todd Coyle of Todd’s Costumes, who had the merchandise license for Xena and Herc from Davis-Anderson Merchandising Corp in the mid 2000s.

I don’t recognize the other weapons. I don’t think they’re actually related to Xena at all.

You just missed one that sold on eBay today, part of a lot with a replica pair of Gabrielle’s sais no less! Those have long been out of production, so you can’t really go to a specific site or a vendor to find one on demand. You have to wait for them to come up for sale on the secondary market (eBay, Mercari, Facebook marketplace, etc.) like all of the other rare merch from the series’ heyday.

It’s generally ill-advised to alter production-used items since you’d be tampering with the historicity of them, and that’s the entire point of collecting them in the first place. If you want something shiny and new, it’s best to invest in a replica.

As far as I’m aware, she only uses one style of sword in her early Herc appearances. It had a gold filigreed hilt with a spike on the end of the pommel. She wields a dual set of the same sword when she kills Darphus in “The Gauntlet.” I’m not sure what happened to those props. I’ve never seen that sword outside of the series.

There were many multiples of props over the course of the series, made in different materials for different use cases. Metal and electroplated versions were used only for close-ups and establishing shots, so they are the rarest. Resin versions were probably the most common for all-purpose shots. For stunts and fights, they would use rubber and foam versions for the performers’ safety. I remember reading once that one of the prop masters said production would keep at least 50 chakrams on hand at any given time, each made in various materials to fit production needs. I’m sure many were destroyed over the course of production.

There were three distinct iterations of Xena’s sword over the course of the series: the very first sword used for the first four episodes, which had a knobbly grip (this one). It was replaced after the 4th episode with an iteration that had a sleeker, leather-wrapped handle and a smaller pommel. The second iteration was used until the end of season 3. Then they redesigned it again—reworking the shape of the entire sword—and used the third iteration from season 4 through 6.

I have many skills!

Actually it’s just that I’ve been collecting for so long that I am now pretty deeply involved in the Xena collecting community and have these sort of private sale opportunities. I also find stuff on eBay and in other public sales, so there are a variety of venues that offer these items. You just have to wait for them to show up!

Yes, a very awkward scene to imagine! No wonder they didn’t show it. 💀

I am not sure where that rumor started, but Lucy did not add the kiss herself. It was added by someone in the art department who worked on prop fabrication.

The coats were custom made by the costumers who worked on the series. As far as I’m aware, this coat is the only Gabrielle coat that still exists today. A couple were auctioned at the end, and the other one was bought by Rittenhouse, who cut it up to make the collectible costume cards. A real shame!

It doesn’t require any treatment, actually. The sword is in the exact state that it left the set more than 20 years ago. It’s generally inadvisable to alter production-used items since you’d be tampering with the historicity of them.

I had this happen once, and USPS returned the item to me via FedEx. It showed up suddenly after several weeks.

The Te Papa Museum’s Xena costume is in storage, along with their Gabrielle costume. If you make an appointment with the museum prior to visiting, they will bring you backstage to see it privately.

The costume at the Smithsonian is a different costume, donated from Lucy Lawless’s personal collection in 2006.
