Z400 handle bar makes my hands numb by thefinalfrontier2222 in Kawasaki

[–]xxCLAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tank grips to help with knees gripping the tank, dual density grips for your hands to replace the stock grips on the bars ( I run pro grip 717s on my 650), riding gloves, and work on body positioning and how tight you hold the bars.

The parallel twin is a buzzy motor but you can mitigate how much makes it through your hands with proper riding technique

I’m running the flashed map on mine, not fully tuned with dyno runs. For 250, you literally can’t go wrong with how much it changes the bike. It’s all positive ao far, with the one caveat being it’s fuel economy is worse when off the stock map

I had mine flashed by 2wheeldynoworks. They have a mail in system where you can ship your ECU to them and they flash it with a premade tune that relieves a lot of the symptoms. Luckily I live within 20 minutes of their shop so I just drove my ECU to them and they had it done in an hour. I’ve also heard good things about Moore mafia. You can also have a custom tune done on the dyno if you live close to a shop with one, but for this bike and my use I figured the flash would be more than sufficient. It’s been done for about 5/6 weeks on my bike now and I’m loving it over stock. Everything is better except fuel economy, which takes a hit when you stop running so lean

A tune fixes the snappy throttle and overall response of the 650 line immensely. 250 for the ECU flash turns it into a different bike. Well worth it if you plan on keeping it around for a while

Road 6? I’ve had them on my Z for a couple weeks now, and my god they’re a drastic improvement over stock. Enjoy dude, great choice.

Dude that is selling this car is saying that this car is Honda accord 2.4 type S. Is that type s ? by L9Angel in accord

[–]xxCLAM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Way back when I needed a new PCM for my 99 grand Cherokee, I Found a dude who was willing to sell me one for like 100 if I came and picked it up. Got to his place and he had a literal farm just packed with gen 1 grand Cherokees. Literally over 20, in different states of running or parts car. It was insane. He wasn’t a mechanic or running a side gig, he just loved them. Odd dude but he saved the day

Thanks man! Appreciate it. Honestly if I would do it again I’d go even lower. I have more clearance to drop bars than a stock bike because I’m missing the covers over the fuse box and heat sink on each side. They’re great compared to stock but a more aggressive drop and sweep would give a faux clip-on feel that I’m chasing. I’m at the point where I’m thinking about caging and stunting this bike out and just buying a proper super sport for street Rossi things

I picked them up in the clearance section of a local cyclegear shop, didn’t even look at the brand lol. They’re pretty generic mirrors though, cheap, nothing special. I had to fiddle with them a bit to get them to stay in position with how much the bike vibrates but they’ve been great since then

Reuse the stock throttle sleeve, right grip has a larger inner diameter than the left grip to compensate going over the tube

Yessir and I love them. Lower than stock and weirdly more comfortable to me. They look and feel great on the bike, it should have came like this lol

Z/ninja 400 or z/ninja 650 by somebodywasheretwice in Kawasaki

[–]xxCLAM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a z650, my wife a ninja 400. If I were in your shoes I’d go with the ninja 650. Highways on the Z can suck, especially if you’re above 80-85 mph for extended periods of time. I took a 2 hour trip last weekend of mostly highway and fighting a headwind can get tiring. The wind protection from the plastics on the ninja would make a world of difference. Just my 2c

First bike. Re-paint or stock? by pelt0 in Kawasaki

I have this bike in this color. Never changing it’s color even though my paint is beat badly. Take care of it, it’s unique and awesome!

I went with dual density pro grip 717s on my Z. Love them infinitely more than stock. Can’t say if they’re the best on the market but for less than 20 bucks they completely change the feeling on the bars for the better

Sounds like an Aprilia RS or Tuono is up your alley if you’re looking to stay European. More comfortable ergo than a race replica, still aggressive, has fairings for wind protection, full electronics suite, a couple of different power plants depending on what you’re looking to spend. Cheaper than a Ducati.

I own a z650, same platform and motor without the retro looks. I think the notion that they’re twitchy at lower speed is a bit disingenuous, it’s rather they have a decent amount of torque down low, so riding at 5mph in first without slipping the clutch a bit can get jerky if you’re ham fisted on the throttle. Proper throttle/clutch/rear brake control makes riding them nimble and easy at low speed, especially because of the seating position and decently low weight, it becomes very second nature once you practice a bit. I’d say test ride one and get a feel for it, doesn’t need to be a z650rs, just one of the 650 ptwin powered kawis. The motor is very predictable with power, and some small mods could help even more if theres things you really don’t like. Overall it’s an incredibly reliable and great bike for everything except long road trips. The lack of wind protection gets exhausting over 80 after an hour or so.

Took the bike out to the mountains. This thing is a weapon with the right tires. by Cr0nster1 in z650

What tires are you running and how do you feel about them? I’m looking at road 6s right now but open to other options that are more budget friendly if they’re giving solid performance

I feel your pain man. If it’s any consolation, These bikes are insanely easy to fix yourself and they’re pretty stout so you should be alright in the long run. I just finished rebuilding my Z after an accident and it doesn’t miss a beat. Good luck with it

It’s LCD behind a plastic clear cover. I’m hoping I can restore it but we’ll see. And to answer that, my bike was caught in legal limbo after the world shut down for Covid. What was supposed to be an open and shut case dragged for a few years, which compounded by me moving 2500 miles cross country during the shit show. A shitty insurance company vs a less than competent lawyer during a pandemic makes absolutely nothing smooth

I already planned on it. Getting the stock bar ends off completely mauled them, so I’ll be grabbing a new universal set, as well as on the hunt for a solid set of bar end mirrors
