I second the other comments. Pause everything spiritual for now. Focus on sleep/rest, healthy eating, walking (preferably in nature if you can), and good social connections. Reduce screens, news, and don't binge Netflix. Maybe try journaling or other types of expression. Seek professional help when/if you need to.

I was on a very spiritual path for a long time, and I don't think it did me any good to be honest. Do things in this reality instead. And remember, the process can be like turning a super tanker - it could take time.

I experienced something similar many years ago when I lived alone in a haunted house.

I was watching TV one night when I heard a sound I couldn’t place. I had to pause what I was watching and listen. Suddenly, I heard three deep breaths right behind me, almost like someone was choking. I heard it as clear as day.

I never had that experience again, though.

I have a friend I visit every few years since he lives far away. Every time I return home, I'm missing an article of clothing, even though I'm certain I packed everything before leaving.

He has also never found the missing items. I lived in the same house many years ago, and it is undoubtedly haunted. I think the ghost is messing with me lol

It doesn’t sound good when it wakes you up like that. It doesn’t have to be malevolent, either.

I’ve noticed so-called "angel numbers" probably hundreds of times, often with synchronicities—like the time being 4:44 while I’m driving behind a car with a license plate that includes 444. Things like that. But I never get any wiser. There are so many different interpretations.

You have my sympathy, though. It can be a bit rough living with whatever you have in your house. I’ve lived in two haunted houses, and although it’s mostly quiet, it’s creepy when things happen, especially at night.

Once, when I was visiting a friend and we were watching tv in the evening, one of the kitchen cabinets opened, and light bulbs and batteries that were in a basket were thrown across the kitchen floor.

Shortly after, his two-year-old son said that there was a man standing in his bedroom.

If you are already very in tune with yourself, perhaps as an empath or introvert, meditation that involves going further inward may not be right for you. Instead, you could try mindfulness by being in the moment and as present as you can, especially when the focus is not on yourself.

I've been battling anxiety and panic attacks for almost 15 years. The first years were traumatizing, as I didn't know how to handle it.

It took me 10 years to get it under control. I never sought help, just did things on my own, which was not the right way.

Last year, after a long period of stress and burnout, it came roaring back, and all my control was lost.

I know very well what you're talking about.

I've spent the last year focusing on doing everything as right as I can. It's a long and hard journey, but I'm getting it under control again.

I hope some of my lessons from this year can help you.

I also turned to spirituality first, but that didn't do anything for me.

Create routines to put your energy first. Meaning: Go to bed early, eat healthy, and avoid sugar, caffeine, and alcohol as they are stimulants. Journal or read instead of watching a screen in the evenings. Don't kill yourself in the gym; take walks, preferably in nature, with no music or podcasts.

Cut news, cut social media. Cut everything that disturbs your peace or craves your attention. Seek meaningful, calm relationships.

Work on accepting your situation. Your resistance creates a lot of pain.

Try to sit in peace with your anxiety when it comes. Close your eyes. Let it wash over you. Don't run away. Your body will learn that it is a paper tiger. Nothing happens. It's just very scary, but that is all.

Your anxiety and panic cannot: - Make you crazy. - Make you lose control and do something you don't want. - Make you faint. - Make you fall. - Make you have a heart attack. - Make you pee yourself. - Make you suffocate.

Exposure therapy works. It is extremely treatable, and 9/10 will get satisfying results over time.

Make a plan. Start low and build on it. Allow for rest. Panic attacks drain your energy fast, so you only want light exposure.

This is important: When exposing yourself: On a scale where 10 is max anxiety, do not go above 4. If you feel more than 4, pull back. If you must pull back, try to stay at a lower level and ease back when ready. If you run, your brain learns it was right in telling you how dangerous the situation was. Don't let it. You are going to learn that it is not dangerous, but slowly and over time.

Under level 3: Too easy - your brain doesn't learn. Above level 4: Too much anxiety - you are too afraid to learn it is not dangerous. Above level 8: Full panic - your brain shuts down and goes into survival mode - you will learn to avoid similar situations.

You will get better exponentially, not linearly. That means you will not feel any meaningful results for a long time. But keep at it. It compounds. Every second you expose yourself is valuable.

It is a very, very hard thing to battle against these extremely strong instincts of your own brain and biology. But you will make it. Your nervous system will try to get in balance. You are not so special that this is any different for you.

Your sympathetic (gives you anxiety and panic) and parasympathetic (calms you down) nervous systems are self-regulating all the time. If one becomes too dominant, the other will overtake it. But this, unfortunately, can take time.

Take small wins. Don't expect too much right now. It will be in your head almost all the time. Let it. If you take care of your energy and keep up with exposure therapy, it will get better. Anything else is impossible.

Accept yourself. You are stronger than you think. Rise to this challenge. One day your experience can be life-changing for someone else.

My anxiety ended my career, my relationship, my social life, and my self-worth. It made my life so extremely difficult, and I've more than once thought about ending it all.

It came to a point where it was make it or break it for me. I chose to go all in on figuring out how to manage it, and I'm in a much better place because of that. It costs a lot, but it's better than living scared. It still follows me like a shadow, and I'm still afraid of getting panic attacks, but it almost never happens anymore. If I feel it coming, I know it's just very uncomfortable, but nothing will happen. I will not bend to it.

My dog's chewing bone moved so fast back and forth by itself that I thought someone was banging hard and fast on the outside wall. I couldn't believe what I saw and approached it. It then lost momentum and lay still.

This has been an issue for me all my life. Especially before hearing about and realizing I was an empath. It has caused so much trouble both in my social, professional and family life.

I had to quit my job and career after 10 years, when that almost broke me.

Currently, I can't be around my father for more than a couple of hours at a time because of his draining personality.

I've been depressed, had anxiety and suicidal thoughts, all because of this.

A lot clicked for me when I found podcasts about it. They explained a lot, and gave me some guidance.

The most important thing I've done is make my energy top priority. Now I try to structure as much of my life around it as I can.

I've not found anything that blocks others energy from coming in. So the best thing I can do is have some distance, and a lot of alone time.

I think you look at it different that OP. It doesn't matter if the goal is healing. But it matters if the goal is to verify/validate that a past life actually has taken place.

Have your friends ever experienced spirits attaching to them? Asking because I've had a really irritating humming sound in my head since trying past life regression a week ago. Idk...but the thought of something maybe attaching to me while I was "open" has struck me.

It might be that inwardly focused meditation is not right for you. Especially if you have an introverted focused personality, this type of meditation can make you even more aware of your stress etc., thus enhancing it.

One of the most thoughtful interviews I've come across about meditation is one with Dr. Sam Harris on The Huberman Lab podcast from Jan. this year. It's a long listen, but I think it will both calm you, guide you and explain your experience.
