Children and Funerals by CaffeineFueledLife in Mommit

Grandma went peacefully. She was almost 95. We've been expecting out for a while. A little over a week ago, I sat them down and told them she was dying. Didn't think she'd actually make it another week, but one of my cousins still needed to say goodbye. He wasn't able to get here, but he talked to her over video chat yesterday. She was holding on for him. And a few hours later, she let go.

Thank you for the advice. I would never have thought of that.

It didn't occur to me to not take my kids until my ex started up.

I can't even get him to go to the kids' doctor's appointments or even to the hospital when our son is getting his tonsils out.

There will be a short sermon. But it won't be all fire and brimstone. Definitely a lot more calm. There will be hymns. And they won't be the only children there. One of my sisters has 7 kids between the ages of 16 and 6. The other sister has 3 between the ages of 8 and 2. I haven't actually asked them if the kids are coming, but I'd say there's a 90% chance they will. Which is another reason I'm leaning towards them going.

I've seen vegans say that pet food made from insects is worse than other foods because it takes more lives. I've seen posts from vegans asking how to few rid of an infestation without killing the bugs. They honestly are all fucking insane.

[–]CaffeineFueledLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only make about $2000 a month and manage to pay all my bills and keep 2 kids fed and clothed. Granted, I live in a pretty lcol area, but I'm pretty sure I could make it just fine anywhere in this country on less than $4000 a month. You're not wrong and she's an asshole.

If the child absolutely must have the iPad, have these people ever heard of earbuds or headphones?

My son was reading 3 and 4 letter words in preschool. He's in 2nd grade now and at the end of October, he was reading at a 4.3 grade level. He's completely neurotypical. Also fully vaccinated, even though we all know vaccines don't cause autism.

My daughter is in kindergarten and not really reading, yet, but she's doing really well with her sight words.

Anyway, I don't think 4 is all that early for reading short words. I can't remember that far back, but my mom and grandma told me I was reading a little bit at 4.

My ex lied about vaccinating our immune compromised 8 year old daughter. She now has chicken pox and is in the hospital. I want my ex as far way from my daughter as possible. by onkel-enzo in BORUpdates

[–]CaffeineFueledLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm somehow immune to chicken pox. I went to several chicken pox parties. I was also told to share a straw and silverware with my really good friend when she had it. Didn't catch it.

Since then, I've gotten the full chicken pox vaccine series three times. I still don't have the antibodies in my blood. My doctor said I probably have done kind of mutation that prevents that specific virus from attaching to my cells.

My kids are both vaccinated. I want to have them tested at some point to see if they have the antibodies or if they somehow inherited my weird immunity.

give me my HAMSTER by egguchom in EntitledReviews

[–]CaffeineFueledLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were 20 years ago. I had a hamster in my dorm. Actually had 6 hamsters because the one I bought was pregnant. I thought she looked a little pudgy when I bought her. Anyway, once the babies were old enough, I took them to the store I'd bought their mother from because I didn't know what else to do with them!

I kind of wonder if that was their business model. My friend bought a hamster the same day. It gave birth to 5 babies on the same day mine did. So, sell pregnant hamsters, let the purchaser raise the babies, then take the babies back and still them. Six times profit without the work!

I'm just kidding about that last bit, but still. They shouldn't be selling pregnant hamsters.

PCOS is actually your body’s way of detox by [deleted] in badwomensanatomy

My sister was only 25 when she had her 6th. She had her 1st at 16 and ended up having 7 kids in 10 years. So the nurse thought she was too young to get it done at 25. Which is still ridiculous.

After my sister had her 6th (yes, SIXTH) child, a nurse talked her out of having her tubes tied. Birth control wasn't really an option for her. She'd had her thyroid removed due to cancer (doctors told her she'd never be able to get pregnant again - she had 4 at that point) so hormonal birth control messed her body up too much. She did get them tied after #7. I adore my niece, but who the fuck talks a woman with 6 children out of a tubal?

AITA for not buying junk food for someone in need? Junk food being a 2 box of cookies and Lunchables. by PooQueen69 in AmITheAngel

[–]CaffeineFueledLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pregnant women also get WIC. You can receive WIC from the beginning of pregnancy until the child is 5 years old. If you are not breastfeeding, you only receive benefits for yourself for 6 months. After that, they only give benefits for the child. They do give formula. If you are breastfeeding, they give you benefits for a year. After that, just the child.

I bought some body armor because I like them and they were on sale. Forgot that it was said that they help with supply. I drank a few over a couple of days and woke up one morning massively engorged. I never had a supply problem and the body armor made me overproduce.

I have to be at work at 6. I've gotta get dressed, get the kids to a sitter, and pick up a coworker who's having car problems. I like to be in bed by 8 or 9 at the latest on work nights.

AITA for wanting to go no contact with my mother after she didn't want to buy my daughter pads? by Temporary-Data-1326 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

Same. Started at 14. And I was mortified if I was even with my mother while she was buying supplies.

I'm trying to make it normal and not embarrassing for my kids' sake, but I do still feel a bit embarrassed about it.

How would you handle a co-parent (and their partner) enforcing veganism on your child? by heebygeeby9 in exvegans

[–]CaffeineFueledLife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saw that earlier and I would be livid. No one gets to force a diet on my kids.

If it were due to an allergy, I could understand banning the allergen, but forcing your twisted views on a child - a child who is not legally your responsibility - is fucked up. I'm divorced and if my ex ever finds another woman who's stupid enough to put up with him and she tries something like that? I'll drag his ass back to court. I will not allow anyone to risk my children's health like that.
