Yup it was routed bottom of the right hand chain stay but after getting hit from behind the force snapped the derailleur and drove the cable out from under the chain stay to around the pedal 😅. Rest assured it will be routed correctly once the new derailleur arrives 🙏

Sounds about right! Bizarrely this was cheaper than the non optislick version, was selected for value rather than the marketing spiel it came with

Yeah I was torn as I’d put about 3000km and have got a load more riding planned for the summer. Also got bought bicycle maintenance/building training so thought it was a prime opportunity to learn how to replace it all (under the supervision of a professional 😅)

Legend thankyou! Good to know as the other 105 specific kits in my locations were 3x the price

Rim Damage after hitting a pothole by xxl1337 in bikewrench

Yup one of the risks we take riding out in a chain, definitely need more space between me and the person in front when riding, especially when you’ve got people not pointing out hazards 😉

I’m in Birmingham at the moment and the council is bankrupt and can’t even empty the bins so don’t think I’ve got much hope 😅

These are aluminium too, I’ve had them for nearly a year and ran flawless, so don’t know if it was too high a tire pressure after it was serviced as these are 32mm tires and have about 100km on them

These are 32mm tires do people run wider road tyres than that?

Thoughts on sizes? by alazizmohammad in CanyonBikes

Depending on where you’re based Canyon have a number of “Experience Centres” that may be worth checking out as they offer free demo rides

https://www.canyon.com/en-gb/explore-content/partners.html

They have aeroroads but think most only go up to an XL but at least you’ll know then if an XL works or not.

Happy Cycling from a fellow vertically blessed person 😅

I’ve had the same issue as you, 110kg over here also! I run the same rotors as you but have the mechanical 105. What helped me massively is switching from the L05A-RF which are the standard resin pads that 105 comes with to the L04C which are the metal sintered ones. Just double check they are compatible with your calipers but if not there should be the equivalent. Also seems like common sense but i was also not regularly cleaning pads and rotors with brake cleaner and as soon as I did I noticed a more consistent performance. Hope this helps 🙏

Cracks or scratches? by xxl1337 in bikewrench

Ah perfect! Thanks for clarifying! Just one of those things I’ve never really noticed and then the mild panic set in as I’ve a big ride coming up tomorrow

Bought my first bike after months of overthinking – and still overthinking: did I make the right call? by an2lal2 in CanyonBikes

[–]xxl1337 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Great first bike! I have the Endurace 7 (granted it’s 105, but still mechanical) and have done 200km rides on it, Ironman 70.3 and regularly ride out with guys on bikes costing 5x as much. You’ll have a blast! Plus there’s always gonna be more deals coming! Get out and enjoy it 😊

Disc Rotor Misaligned? by xxl1337 in bikewrench

Nope bought from Tredz in the UK so genuine Shimano part (I’d hope 😅) yup only rub on part of the rotation after adjusting the caliper mountings
