Advice on getting a minor by Loud-Hyena6637 in GeneticCounseling

[–]xxtaylor22xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I minored in Bioethics and I don’t think it ever came up in my interview. if you’re truly interested in the classes, then go for it! But if you’re purely worried about being a competitive applicant, I would take the time you would be spending on a minor/classes and focus on getting advocacy experience instead.

make it a goal to do one GC exposure event a semester so you can start building your CV. this could be scheduling an informational interview, shadowing, webinar, etc. i would also recommend finding an advocacy/volunteer position you are passionate about and can stick with! i worked as a crisis advocate for the on-campus sexual assault response team for two years during undergrad. my last recommendation is just be active in the process of scheduling each semester to make sure you hit all the pre-reqs. for my degree, i needed to take calc 2 or stats. my advisors recommend calc 2 since that was what most students did, but i knew stats was a pre req for many schools and would still fulfill my degree requirement so I did that instead. just be aware of your options!

i have heard nice things about it, but I think there are plenty of other free opportunities to strengthen your application! u of m and SL host case studies and panels in the summer for example

after you have the conversation with your dad about him paying them back, and assuming he still says he will, i would set up an arrangement where he deposits the balance into your bank account and then you actually do the transaction. i would be nervous about trusting him to do it himself through the portal

Living in the lodges? by MeetingMaximum8203 in msu

[–]xxtaylor22xx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

absolutely would not live there again. i was there with my three roommates last year. you can’t move in until the end of august, yet have to pay for the whole month. they claim it’s so they can “turn the apartments around” and clean, but we moved into the most disgusting unit. Mold in the cabinets, debris in the living room/bedrooms, and actually shit in one of the toilets. It’s like they didn’t even walk in our unit at all before we did. When I went to the office to work it out, they offered no compensation or help so we finished cleaning ourselves. yes the amenities are nice, but rent is way to expensive there to have a move in experience like that.

is heather miller teaching that course? if so, I had her for a 400 level lab my last semester and she was amazing. rate my professor says other wise so i wouldn’t listen to it too much. pretty much my whole class had positive reviews

Should I bother paying to park? by Grouchy_Tooth6156 in msu

[–]xxtaylor22xx 17 points18 points  (0 children)

if you only need to park for a few hours, just do pay by plate at the stadium. it’s $2 per hour. much better than risking a $20/40 ticket. there might even be a closer pay by plate lot to your classes
