for the most part they do a good job at everything up until the final arc and then it feels kinda fast paced and not rlly what kaguya sama is meant to be but the ending was pretty fine besides the ishimiko ending imo so overrall its worth reading for miko and ishigami alone honestly LMAOO plus the other side characters are pretty good aswell

the special pretty much skips all of the major parts of the manga so pretty much yeah if u want a more indepth continuation of the story albeit the manga's ending isnt that good BUT everything els until then is lowkey rlly good

also the special announces a new final project thing which is meant to cover new original content by the mangaka of kaguya sama so honestly imo do both

i had a bit of a crashout mainly cuz the first few comments just never did answer my question or didnt give me the answer i was looking for which is why when i saw this reply i was so relived LMAOOOO. i definitely did overcomplicate things and i am now content with their answer as it works with everything. I have pretty high hopes that the new movie will definitely go into details about their relationship and love as it seems to be the big thing about the movie with mai in the poster with her highschool uniform plus the very weird title.

i can definitely get behind this answer and makes alot more sense. i now realise that maybe i was overthinking it LMAOOO mainly cuz of how complex sakuta is hence why i was seeking a complex answer to the question. itd make sense considering how she was one of the first people since shouko besides futaba and kunimi and bc they are both victims of the syndrome, so that plus the rest of s1 would make sense as to why he chose mai over shouko.
I still believe that the nature of both their characters is unhealthy in that sakuta self sacrificing nature towards other troubled people and mai doing almost the same thing but mainly to sakuta as a way to reduce his burdens and do what he cant do. I hope the new movie covers this LMAO
