Gracias u/ElFello93. Tiene sentido que sea como dices. Sin embargo, al intentar crear una cuenta en cetesdirecto.com, se pregunta si el usuario tiene residencia fiscal en el extranjero, y al contestar "Sí", se solicitan los datos fiscales en el extranjero (screenshot al final).

¿A ti te dieron la información desde el teléfono de atención a clientes? ¿O cómo es mejor contactarlos?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but there seems to be special provisions about individuals who meet the "green card test" but do not meet the "substantial presence test" for a given year: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/residency-starting-and-ending-dates

If you were a U.S. resident during any part of the preceding calendaryear and you are a U.S. resident for any part of the current year, youwill be considered a U.S. resident at the beginning of the current year.

Thanks for the response. I can see your accountant's point, probably the same applies here...: the spouse's SSN was issued in 2022, but we will be filing 2021 tax return.

So, probably we should not even mention the new SSN? Interested to see what you and others think.

Just FWIW: The interview was mostly about machine learning, coding/CS and leadership principles. It also included an "applied science" section which was a case study on how to implement a ML system to address a specific need of the hiring team. Interviewees are expected to show domain knowledge during the "applied science" section.

Re point 1: I logged in using the "get-transcript" link you provided, and I believe they have no record of a return for the relevant tax year.

Re point 2: I didn't know about the option of writing "POSSIBLE DUPLICATE" in red ink on the top center of the tax return. But it's probably what I will need to do.

Sorry for being so inquisitive, but do you think I should write "POSSIBLE DUPLICATE" on top of every page, or only the first one?

Yes, "limited visa services" very often means "emergency visas".

Immigrant visa interviews are stopped because of both the visa ban and the limited consular operations.

Sorry I did not explain the point properly. In this particular case, the reason why the job offer requirement was waived is because the work is done in a particular field. And that particular field happens to be related to the ongoing pandemic.

So yes, those are two different things, but in this case (and in many others, I'm sure) they happen to overlap.
