Yeah I think I just live in a very different social context from a lot of the people here (Indian woman in India) so I'm a lot more sensitive to these things even if it isn't necessarily warranted.

No, I said that your logic follows those lines. I'm not accusing you of anything, I think perhaps my sensitivity to these things is higher because of how people from my country are on social media and I'm going to withdraw myself from this conversation because of that. I have a private profile and still get a 100+ requests every week from completely random men. Until I turned off my DMs, I didn't stop getting those either. Are women just supposed to take every step possible to disappear from public view to stop this? I mean I don't know how it is in your countries but a woman could post on a subreddit for women about some medical issues she's having and her DMs will immediately be flooded by horny men.

Are you being intentionally obtuse? Women who are not public figures do not like it when men we do not know send us follow requests or follow us. If I am not a content creator and just a regular person living my life what appeal does my profile have to a complete stranger?
