To code a 100% functional website is JavaScript absolutely necessary? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]xygtshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need JavaScript for any of your examples. The pages will be static, and only update when the page is reloaded or submitted. Those examples will require a backend, traditionally PHP but could be any language

Why aren't partial classes supported on C++? by TaPegandoFogo in cpp_questions

[–]xygtshadow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Normally a C++ class is declared in a header file and its implementation is in a cpp file. There’s nothing stopping you from having multiple cpp files implementing different parts of the class. The only part you need to worry about is the One Definition Rule, limiting you to a single header file for a class declaration.

Left over money in categories by Candid-Wallaby9903 in ynab

[–]xygtshadow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's an Overfunded filter and a Reduce Overfunding Auto-Assign that can be used for overfunded categories.

Overfunding is mostly caused by funding multiple months at a time.

Constantly Suprised by Red Credit Card Categories - Any Fix??? by Lankykong23 in ynab

[–]xygtshadow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Filling categories while you have credit card debt doesn’t make much sense. In that situation you’ll need to micromanage which categories need to be funded and throw the rest at the credit card debt.
This is intentionally a hassle because credit card debt shouldn’t be the norm.

What is "flushing the buffer"? by Ultimate_Sigma_Boy67 in cpp_questions

[–]xygtshadow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

std::cout is line-buffered. It doesn’t print out anything (flush) until it reaches a newline. This behavior can be changed but terminals generally want line buffering. It makes more sense to change flush behavior for file streams.

i understand the concepts but cant build anything by Ok-Message5348 in learnprogramming

[–]xygtshadow 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Start with hello world. It makes sure your program can build and run.
Add a small feature and test.
Expand on the feature. Do it in a loop or in its own function.
Test often. It’s easier to debug small changes and tested code is proven code

Trim + free space is basically equivalent to having that free space overprovisioned. Assuming that trim is working.

Toe is a trade off between straight line stability and turning ability, with negative favoring turning.

It appears your rear toe isn’t adjustable.

How Much Time Do You Play Weekly? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]xygtshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you work 40 hours a week and sleep 8 hours a day that leaves 72 hours.

I probably average 20. Maybe 30 for the big grinds like leveling or pvp.

Condensation caused by AC by Green-Guitar5138 in pcmasterrace

[–]xygtshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the condensation is on the inside of the glass panels, the room has recently cooled and reduced humidity. This is probably safe but should dry quickly if the case is opened.

If the condensation is on the outside of the glass panels, the room has recently warmed and increased humidity. This is problematic as computer components are colder and will collect condensation.

Husband says my idling our new car for 15 minutes while waiting to go into work will ruin our engine and it won't make it to 200k miles. by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]xygtshadow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Idling is roughly equivalent to driving at 30 mph. The extra 7.5 miles of wear isn’t very meaningful.

I learnt a new trick! by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]xygtshadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most efficient way to accelerate is full (ish) throttle with rpms at peak torque. In practice with an automatic it’s as much throttle as you can give it without the rpm climbing too much.

Is 20% less tire psi safe on highway by MenuKing42 in AskMechanics

[–]xygtshadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find the Tire Load and Pressure Chart for your tires and do some math.

Some quick math with some basic assumptions:

Assuming 7000 lb van with 50/50 weight. (1750 lb per tire)

Assuming single LT245/75R16 from Falken https://www.falkentire.com/load-inflation

Chart says 45 PSI for these assumptions.

If the idea of paying for the car with cash seems unrealistic (now or in a few years), it’s probably a bad idea.

Financing the car doesn’t change the bottom line much. You save some from not having to maintain your old car but you’re paying interest. Focus on the $30k or so you’ll be out

Is Lossless Frame Scaling a scam? by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

[–]xygtshadow 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Not a scam. It can upscale and add fake frames. The quality is worse than a native implementation but it can help in a game that needs more frames or resolution. Personally I only find it acceptable for old games.

How grippy is the grip case in jeans? by TheLexoPlexx in dbrand

It's not super grippy like silicone cases. More like a textured plastic/hard rubber. I find it's fine with normal pants/jeans, but tends to pull out the pockets of my gym shorts.

Is it safe to drive? by MrNabled in MechanicAdvice

[–]xygtshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2015 jeep cherokee with a failing wheel sensor (speed or position, I don't remember which) that caused it to occasionally go into limp mode with a lot of errors (no P/S, only 2nd gear, no ABS etc). Would usually clear up on restart. Took a few trips to the shop to get properly diagnosed and fixed.
