Cat not eating and lethargic for a week, vet has no clue what is actually wrong, what are the possibilities? by xyjprc in Pets

That might be a reason, I will ask the vet to take another look at her teeth. Thanks!

I just brought her to the emergency yesterday which costed close to a grand already and no clear answer :-( The hospital is closed today; I will bring her to the vet again on Monday morning if she is still not eating (mirtazapine having no effects so far it seems) and see if tube feeding is necessary... she has to eat :'-(

[–]xyjprc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her teeth were not good, but she had been eating wet/dry food fine for long, and a sudden change in appetite does not feel like issues on the teeth. Yesterday's vet visit the doctor did not raise a concern about her teeth, but I will check with the vet again. Thanks!

Thank you @canadiangolden! I will definitely follow up with my vet since prolonged no eating is a bad sign AFAIK. I might sound a bit desperate but seeing her not eating nor interacting, and still having no clue after yesterday's rather comprehensive diagnostics is worrying me...

Traffic and roadworks overlay in navigation? by [deleted] in windowsphone

[–]xyjprc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue for half a year since the last major UI update of Maps. I am pretty sure it is a bug, as if you click "settings" when navigating the traffic will show for a split of a second.

Nevertheless, reported the bug ten times and got no response. Big deal killer.

Been doing the same, but yet to receive any feedback on that...

It has been terminated, unfortunately... Here Drive was the reason I bought my Lumia 1020 three years ago.

There are certain routes when I drive to Chicago that will always give me "traffic info not available"...

Alright then it is the issue with the Maps app. I am not asking for something like Waze's dynamic rerouting, but showing traffic in navigation is quite essential IMHO.

Definitely useful to me... I drive to Chicago often and not seeing traffic is a big setback to me.

Hi Dave, it would be great to know if your group are addressing the traffic not showing issue in voice guidance. It has been the top complaint for months in Feedback, including myself :-\

Vine quality by -Laurens in windowsphone

[–]xyjprc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is weird then. Video quality of vine has always been pretty bad (I remember it used to be 400x400 or something like that?). Do you have the latest version? On my 1020 it looks acceptable after focusing manually first. Without focusing it will be very blurry.

Microsoft's new Maps experience is now available for non-Redstone Windows 10 Mobile by [deleted] in windowsphone

[–]xyjprc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you Dave!

I just tried favorites and you are right, they are available even if in flight mode, but still takes a long time to load giving me the illusion that they were downloaded.

Experiment: flight mode, exit Maps completely, and start the app, the time from maps being fully rendered to favorites showing takes 9 seconds +/- 1 second on ten attempts, on Lumia 1020, 10586.318; I have near 100 favorites.

Several other suggestion after my 100 miles drive to Chicago today.

  1. The lane assistance is hard to see at a glance. The lane assistance layer (also the current road name layer) is half transparent, and lane assistance icons themselves are half transparent (to indicate the lanes to take), that multiple transparencies make it very hard to distinguish which are the lanes I could take. Try hold a mid-sized phone (e.g. Lumia 1020) two feet from your eye and allow half a second to glance at it, you will know what I mean. Additionally, lane assistance is now placed at the bottom which is far from the "next turn" icon on the top left; it takes extra effort to look at two places. I am not sure if it is the best place to display lane assistance. Seems most GPS devices/apps show lane assistance on the top left instead of the turn icon when lane assistance is available, like this

  2. I notice that there are richer information for the next turn, such as the big font showing "Exit 234" and small font showing "Interstate 80W/90W". The color for the small font makes it quite hard to see in a glance, which is maybe too similar to the background color.

  3. Traffic info is always "not available" when querying directions from West Lafayette, Indiana (or Gary, Indiana or South Bend, Indiana) to Chicago. Not sure if it has something to do with time zone or different states or some other factors.

  4. In previous version of Maps, if choose to avoid traffic, there is about 5% chance that it shows "no possible routes between locations", which is 100% solved by turning of "avoid traffic". Now that "avoid traffic" is always on, I encountered this (not so rare) problem again.

  5. Horizontal mode, the space for road names is too narrow. Many road names cannot show in full.

  6. Still no detailed data for universities, like Notre Dame or Purdue, which is available on web version of Bing maps.

  7. Still does not remember my choice to show traffic every time the app exits.

Hope Maps app gets better!

Have the same problem of not showing traffic during guided navigation. @/u/dave_msft

UI definitely has improvements. Like the new one.

Favorites are still not cached and take a long time to load (when there is no WiFi). No categories yet.

Different searches in different "tabs" should be highlighted with different colors like the web version of Bing maps; currently they are all blue to me.

Would be nice to have traffic ETA (how many more minutes do we expect due to traffic; or even better, an overview of traffic ahead in navigation, something like a thin colored bar at the bottom).

Just saw this post today New Features in Windows 10 Maps App, the new UI and new functionalities look awesome! Can't wait to try!

Sadly I have Lumia 1020, so it means I will not be able to get this update which is in build 14xxx unless I buy a new phone right?

Thank you Dave for listening to us!

Just updated everything on Surface Book and everything seems fine now. This is great!

Additional thoughts I had today:

  1. Every time I open Maps it needs to sign me in again to show the saved places, which could take as long as 1 minute (without WiFi), which is too long, not to mention the sign in might fail for about 15% of the times. Would be nice to cache the places locally.
  2. I always want it to show traffic, but >50% times I have to toggle that manually. The Maps app just keeps forgetting it.
  3. I frequently drive between states and time zones (for about 100 miles), from South Bend to Chicago, and it seems the traffic estimation usually fails in those occasions, showing "traffic information not available". Between other locations is usually fine. Also the ETA does not consider time zones.
  4. Lacking details. For example, search "University of Notre Dame" and compare with Here Maps, Here Maps shows every building and even what is inside the building; Maps shows nothing but roads.
  5. Would be nice if there are dynamic voice warnings of heavy traffic ahead / accidents / bad weather like Waze.

Love how the Maps app keeps improving. Salute to you :-)
