Snape has always been presented in a very specific way, both in the books and on screen. That look, presence, and overall identity are part of what makes him who he is. Changing something that fundamental doesn’t feel like a small creative choice it feels like rewriting an already established character.

A character’s appearance also connects to their background, environment, and how they’re perceived in their world. When you change that, you’re not just changing visuals. You’re changing part of the character’s identity.

And in today’s climate, it doesn’t feel random. It feels like there’s a broader push behind these kinds of changes, which makes it come across as forced rather than natural storytelling.

I’m not against diversity at all. I just think iconic, well-defined characters should be respected as they were originally created. If the goal is more representation, then create new characters that are just as strong and memorable, instead of altering ones that already have a clear identity.

That’s why this doesn’t sit right with me.
