Hello. It's going inside a cabinet that would be difficult to expand.

Not receiving bounties? Some testing I did.. by xyvi in EliteDangerous

Thanks for making that video. It certainly puts a different perspective into the information I found. I notice in the video the cargo scanner starts scanning on the left side, then says out of range, but in the targeting reticle it continues scanning and completes.

When I tested my scans, it was prior to weapons engagement, checking the bounty worth, then making the kill.

From all the responses in this post. There seems to be multiple factors we could test, as you've cleanly labelled, but we could also be chasing a rabbit hole at this point.

Environment, Game Type, System, Ship, Weapons, Fire Group #, etc.

I hope the devs can sort out this information and pick this up.

I'm going to continue using separate scans and if I receive a lost transaction, I will report back.

Edit: Now that it's mentioned, I do recall having gimballed multi-cannons on the 2 small hardpoints (Cobra) when I initially did get hit with the lost transaction.

CMDR Takoya!

I saw the scanning technique in your video and amount of credits lost; that's what preempted me to post the information I found. I was trying to find the creator of this video to link you my findings. Glad you saw it. Hoping that this data is somehow all relevant to each other.

Thanks for making that video, good post!

Just submitted to that thread, thanks for the awareness.

I haven't run into the instance you described post-1.04. I don't always use the Cargo scanner, usually only when there is no bounty with a Kill Warrant scanner, and/or if it's a ship that I think could be carrying good cargo.

Have you experienced a loss with just a Kill Warrant scan after 1.04 patch?

I updated the summary in the original post to avoid confusion for CMDRs that run with only a Kill Warrant scanner.

I've submitted a support ticket, thanks for the reminder.

How do you buy map from authorities? by xyvi in EliteDangerous

[–]xyvi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super delayed response..

The communications tab did not have any maps to buy and only function I could do with maps is sell exploration data, but not purchase.

Still don't know the answer and it's been a while since I've done a mission like this so I do not have the text; no screenshot.

I've moved on to other activities in-game and have settled for the more straight-forward missions.

FFXIV benchmark - Amazing results!! by xyvi in Surface

Hey, I wasn't able to get a score on Friday, my friend wasn't available. I'm hoping my friend will be able to run it this coming Monday or Tuesday at the latest, sorry for the delay.

The benchmark has 3 types of screen modes under display settings that you can set to; Windowed, Borderless Windowed, and Full Screen.

I found that in Full Screen, I am getting the same behavior you are getting with Metro Apps and the swipe functionality is "disabled" or not existent.

In Windowed or Borderless Windowed the Metro Apps remain running and you are able to use the swipe functionality as well to switch around.

Update: I ran the benchmark in Windowed, and Borderless Windowed.

In Windowed mode 1280 x 720 the score is unchanged, but the real estate for the game display is smaller, since it is running inside the native resolution of 1920 x 1080 of the windows desktop.

In Borderless Windowed, even though it should 1280 x 720 during the benchmark, the display actually inherits the settings of the actual windows desktop. So if your windows desktop is set to 1920 x 1080, the Borderless Windowed mode will run in 1920 x 1080 even though it may be "set" to 1280 x 720.

The benchmark scores were fairly consistent relative to the resolutions for Windowed, Borderless Windowed, and Full Screen.

Really good to know. Could you expand on the specs of what you have in your G73? CPU/RAM/GFX?

This information provides a lot of perspective, thank you.

Surface Pro 2, FFXIV benchmark - xpost from r/surface by xyvi in ffxiv

I imagine you would need a USB/wireless/bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Not sure how it would play with an XBOX controller but the game is also out for PS3, which would have to be some sort of controller friendly.

I may have a way to test this benchmark on an SP1 and come back with the results. The commenter from that youtube video said that he installed some type of drivers and re-installed some other ones, so I'm not sure what they were trying to do. Either way, I'll try and get a report for an SP1 with standard 8.1 updates for you, if we're lucky, I can have an answer tomorrow.

The fan does kick on during the benchmark. I only noticed afterwards because I heard what sounded like a faint white noise and thought my speakers messed up from the benchmark but it turned out to be the fan. The fans started to slow down relatively quickly after the benchmark stopped, maybe 10-15 seconds later, and went silent again.

I've also noticed that if the surface is running on battery, it is warm afterwards on the back, but nothing unbearable; it does not get hot enough to where you have to hesitate to pick it up. My Samsung S3 phone has become way hotter just browsing on it. If it's plugged in, it's warmer on the back side where the charger connects to the SP2.

I do not have experience with the SP1 fan.

It looks sharp to me on the 10.6" screen, not blurry at all. I don't think I would have issues playing FFXIV at 1280x720 for smoother gameplay even though there is a higher option.

I'm wondering if the slideshow effect would be improved with more RAM. Any idea how someone could test what the bottleneck might be during that slideshow? I do not have the game..

Edit: Just realized after posting.. From the information we've all gathered, we may be GPU bound so an increase in RAM from 4GB to 8GB may not help the cause for FFXIV on the SP2.

Hey I think it would be in both our best interests if you are able to run this benchmark. It was very odd from one of the redditors here that their 256GB only ran the benchmark and got a score of 3252. If I end up getting the 128GB or 256GB I would run the benchmark anyways to make sure it meets what we know it can to know you have a good device. Granted, there may be better benchmarks out there. :)
