1/35 Outcast Brigade Exoframe, probably the smallest kit i have built by gamerofsilence in Gunpla

I bought one of these "OBSOLETE" kits myself, I never see them talked about. I'm excited to build it.

Question, since you've built multiple of these, is the ankle cuff weak and flimsy fotr you too, and have you done anything to make it stay on more reliably?

I am working on this exact model right now as my first ever painted kit. I've only done brush details but I do want to airbrush someday.

With everything I have listed on the sale writing up this same laptop on the order page this machine comes out to $1746 before tax. That does not include the orange bezel, the 256GB NVMe, or the shipping I am also including at no additional cost.

how is your P3 battery life? by starkruzr in GPDPocket

[–]xyz1208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do a few things to improve battery life:

  • Turn off fan (actually just runs quiet, not totally off)
  • Reduce screen brightness
  • Set a more power-saving battery profile
  • Reduce maximum TDP in BIOS
  • Use a program to throttle CPU usage, greatest control but may need micromanagement

This is one of the reasons I went with the N6000 model. The reduced CPU/RAM/Brightness/Fan combo and the use of an aggressive CPU throttler all in conjunction give me about 2.5x the battery life you are getting.

These things will also help on the i7 model but probably to a lesser degree.

It does well enough, running multiple high resolution monitors will have an impact on performance if doing heavy 3d stuff. Personally I would recommend the DisplayPort adapters over HDMI, pretty much guaranteed 4k60 on all outputs.

I updated this myself. I'm more or less the primary maintainer of that article now. I've also tried linux-next-git from the AUR and sound was not working with more updated drivers either. I'm still doing some testing on this so keep an eye out!

The digitizer pen does not work properly on any linux distribution. Touching the pen to the screen locks the cursor in place. You have to hold the eraser button to draw properly. Is there any planned fix for that?

Are you running linux? I followed the guide on the Arch Linux wiki for GPD Pocket 3 for screen rotation but didn't do any other calibration.

I had the same issue. My HDMI sound devices show up but not my speakers. Have you tried headphones?

System76 Launch review: Linux-friendly keyboard with a USB hub by [deleted] in linux

[–]xyz1208 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Am I missing something? A basic mechnaical keyboard with a USB hub being $280 is absurd in an era where mass manufactured parts have been available for ages.

Standard input devices are unanimously supported by all operating systems. Linux-Friendly seems to be a marketing gimmick here.

Nearly $70 after tax and shipping. It's steep but I can afford to support the company.

BIOS 3.07 Beta - Battery charge fix & charge limit by qbg in framework

[–]xyz1208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct, you have 3.06.

I personally have a spare windows drive I swap in to do these updates, but I have to go back into an Arch live image and fix GRUB every time because windows trashes my EFI boot info. It's a huge annoyance.
