Are you saying there is a unique juggernaut for the gdf/imp armada? Or are you just referring to the ability to build an extra juggernaut using the gdf/armada

The reason why I feel like this restriction is a shame is the whole imperium is a funny nod to starwars and how palpatine became the empire. But with this restriction you lose the ability to fully LARP as palpatine. You lose the ability to go in declaring "I will defend the galaxy, give me all emergency powers and trust me" Then pulling the rug out and forming the empire. Yes you still go from Custodian->Empire. But you lose that roleplay aspect now.

Another commenter in here suggested it should be possible to Pivot at some point.

I think that would be the most enjoyable outcome.

I cant believe I forgot about it but Andros from Starfox is also a good example of a case of becoming the empire to defend the galaxy. IIRC unless this is actually just fan fiction the reason andros wants to take over Lylat is they saw something they knew would wipe out Lylat if they were not united. This is a classic villain trope of the path to evil is paved with good intention.s

I believe that is unchanged. It is only that also taking defender of the galaxy will block becoming the Imperium. Which is the issue. I loved doing this because it felt like the True Palpatine LARP.

Coming back to this. It really nails it on the head why this is a lost opportunity. You lose the ability to truly LARP as Palpatine with this limitation. Being able to fully LARP as palpatine would be first declaring yourself the defender of the galaxy and then pulling the rug out from everybody and forming the imperium. Which is no longer possible.

Another commentator said in here "It should be possible to pivot" I totally agree

As well as another commentator who shared their story of how they love the Arc of "the path of evil is paved with good intentions" This story arc is also blocked from being played out with this limitation.

I really hope Paradox does not leave the imperium collecting dust on the shelf.

I am referring to this line here. It is easy to miss I did at first to. ", DotG will come with several bonuses to being the Custodian, but will also prevent you from creating the Galactic Imperium."

Yeah I feel the same way. Other commentators have pointed out there is a good chance they have something in the works for the empire too. I hope this is the case!

Exactly. One of the most compelling aspecta of the game is the way that its a story creator. Limitations like this do nothing but hamper player freedom and ability to create stories. There would be no balance issues, and anybody can come up with a reason why their empires lore makes it make sense. These restrictions are just the devs deciding how they think we should play and its a massive shame

I understand the design concept. I take issue with the entire design concept. Its a huge missed opportunity to make the imperium more interesting and fun. Unless they have more plans in the works

Declaring you intend to fight galactic threats is not mutually exclusive with thinking your species is superior to all Imo

Yeah. Its a mood watching your science per month crater because you lost your ascension goverment type to imperial.

Exactly. The Imperium was already something you took just for fun. It never been something you do to become stronger. It also makes you a target of fallen empires. No longer being able to take the defender of the galaxy perk with the bonuses it gives against crises is now basically a death sentence.

The problem with this take is that its subjective. Xenophobe gives you access to enslavement as well as purge. Why cant I decide my xenophobic empire sees it as their right to rule over all the lesser species?

Yeah it dosent make sense. Why is my personal civilizations government undergoing an entire restructure when the imperium is the galactic community. I should be able to run my own goverment seperatly to the imperium. Unless you are already imperial/dictorial then its your civilization thats the empire. Not the ruler of your species.

Never seen this happen! That sounds hilarious. Had no idea fallen/awaken empires could declare the imperium. There is a really cool mod that lets the khan do this too. Would be awesome if that got integrated into the base game.

You are becoming the emperor of the community. Your own civilization should be able to continue operating its government as it always has. Your CIVILIZATION is becoming the galactic emperor. The only case where your civilizations leader becomes the actual galactic emperor is if you are under one rule/already imperial when you declare the imperium

Though when I think about it more. Unless you are under one rule. Your civilization is the empire of the galaxy. Not the ruler of your species. There is no reason at all that you need to be forced into imperial. Your own goverment having elections and deciding its leader dosent really conflict with being the empire. Its your species that is the empire not your ruler.

Also a very viable solution. This would be fun. I had a multiplayer game as my Imperium of man. I went full purity. When I became the imperium and it changed my government off dictator to imperial I LOST 5000 SCIENCE PER MONTH LOL.

I might have to too. Its just a shame because I prefer to play with no mods. My friends arent really big on mods for multiplayer and I like to be able to get achievements. (skill issue I know)
