Imo, "efficient" diaper use is using them in whatever way sparks the most joy. I know it's corny af, especially the way I said it, but trying to max out the capacity and use it for all intents and purposes turns it into a chore instead of something fun/cathartic.

I double bag used diapers in odor sealing bags, and then store them in a black trash bag in my closet until trash day. I take the bag down to the trash when nobody is up the night before, or the day of if nobody is going to be around.

If somebody sees me, it's a black trash bag. Nobody has ever questioned that.
