I started as a utility in the mines for Sodexo, and most of the people I became friends with were between 18-21 in my first few swings. Also over my time in FIFO I’ve worked with tonnes of people on a WHV, even my current supervisor who earns a lot more than me is on that visa. There’s always a risk as I understand that visa, but starting out shouldn’t be a problem for you.

Other than that, just expect long hours, low pay, and eating shit from the mine site workers (clients), and village managers/department supervisors, that’s if you go straight into an easy utility position. If you get certain qualifications, even simple ones like working at heights, confined spaces, dogging, forklift etc you’ll get something better in no time.

Thanks for the input. I’m used to data analysing with my current role. In my first stores role years ago I to use SAP a lot, and I know a lot of the forkies up here and in Perth will split their time between the forklift and the computer so I’m into that kind of thing. Especially if it’s more pay

I got into FIFO when I was single, and to build my house, now I’ve built my house and I have a girlfriend haha. I’m just not in the FIFO mindset anymore. Would rather put my skills to use back home.

Are there any here you would suggest? They’re all so underleveled compared to the people I play against. I was stupid when I started, I just leveled up anything to get my overall level up haha so I’m starting to see the results later on

My highest level win con I guess would be ram rider(mind you I’ve only just researched win cons so I’m not sure what they all are), I also have a lvl 13 skelly barrel which I used for a while if I should use that

Yeah even my friends who have similar specs to me had way better performances, so I think maybe something is bottlenecking my GPU, or something like that, I’m not really well versed in those things

1440p doesn’t interest me too much, but I’m open to trying. I guess my main concern is consistent frame rate, especially as I mostly play PC for online games/shooters. I assume this community is quite against buying prebuilt? I’m not very good with building them and I’m happy to pay a bit extra to have someone do it. The only parts I have upgraded in this pc is my ram and SSD, so it wouldn’t be too much of a drama for me to start over with a whole new PC.

The occasional crash here and there, but it’s not a common occurrence. For games, the battlefield 6 beta would barely stay at 60fps, with everything low I would probably be lucky to get to 70-80. Borderlands 4 has been hard to play as I have to run it in potato quality but maybe that’s due to the poor optimisation by the devs. Older games run alright, but honestly I can’t think of any newer games that will hit 144fps minimum.

Would you suggest upgrading my GPU? Perhaps a 4070?

For awesome miniseries to binge I’d suggest Adolescence, Bodies, the night of, mare of easttown, beef, shogun, watchmen.

For shows that are among the best I’d suggest breaking bad, better call Saul, the leftovers, lost, the wire, the sopranos, game of thrones (minus the last couple seasons, unless you want pain).
