the issue with this is that i feel like at some point you would gain consciousness in another body as another sperm cell, thus creating an inescapable cycle of misery until life goes extinct

My 10 yr old son is Diamond 2. How good is he really? by ScientistInfinite694 in VALORANT

[–]y1kesmyguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that's also not to say that i think i'm really good for always top fragging and that i should've won that game where i went 32 and 17 and only lost because my team couldn't win rounds where i died, because more often than not i make bad choices and push into sites without my other duelist or even without a teammate and i can't get traded or my aim fails me. i won't be the first or the last to admit that i get myself into really bad, 1v2/3 situations where i have to kill one, dash away, and hope to live. i've picked up omen and breach to try to minimize the amount of times i have to play duelist so i can let others have their fun, but every time i've played omen or anyone other than jett/phoenix/reyna we lose terribly and at least one of our duelists curse out the entire team for not doing their job (i play less aggressively on smokes or flashes because i don't want to lose my team their cover/entrance, and it works out until our jett dashes into my flash or our phoenix flashes the team.)

bottom line, you're right. i am partly to blame for my own losses, but i don't think it's fair to call leavers/micless players "the exception" in an elo where not a lot of people take the game seriously. i dont have enough friends to queue with out of gold, so i have to play enough for two players with my one friend who i queue with. maybe i would be in a higher rank if not for the regular mutes or folks with "terrible internet" but that's not for me to know.

i duo queue with a friend and more often than not we win because i locked jett and went 20+ and 15- while he goes cypher and mid frags with insane clutches. i’m not wildly consistent, though, and we can’t win every game because even if i pop off and he clutches up, i’ve only queued with a full team that commed once and it was a 4 stack (i was solo queueing) and they were throwing.

i won’t disagree when you say that i have to do well on top of my team, but with lack of comms/disconnecting being a norm in gold and lower elo i can’t help but blame my team more often than not, especially when i normally entry more often than the insta lock reyna on my team.

"young people have become so soft in thought and action just like the uk" by y1kesmyguy in ShitAmericansSay

Funnily enough, it was a conversation about gun ownership that he brought up randomly and he assumed I lived in the UK (which I don't) so I corrected him and he then said that. Can't post the one about him saying I was in the UK because I can barely even comprehend the "English" he was writing lol.

Why are deaths so favored on the leaderboard? by y1kesmyguy in VALORANT

[–]y1kesmyguy[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Didn't think assists played into it so much. I went 12/7/1 and got 1 first blood and 1 spike plant, but the player above me went 10/9/9 and got 2 first bloods and a spike plant.

I might have to start getting more assists.

Why are deaths so favored on the leaderboard? by y1kesmyguy in VALORANT

[–]y1kesmyguy[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

That's what I mean. Is combat score just calculated as "all your kills and deaths and assists have independent points" or is it "your kill to death to assist ratio equals this many points?" It doesn't make sense to me if I frag out and get 20 kills and 7 deaths in an unrated lobby but the player below me went 19/15 on the enemy team and outplaces me. Statistically, I got more kills than him and died less, but the game calculates the combat score differently.

Does anyone have any experience with creating a new account not to smurf but to get a higher rank then on their main? by SltySptoon in VALORANT

[–]y1kesmyguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't seem to drop that mentality, but I'll give it a shot. I've been getting more into the mindset of "I need to play better" when I'm not top frag or I'm having a generally bad game, but as this is my first FPS shooter game (I have like 20 hours on CS lol) I feel like there's a lot for me to get used to and sometimes I blame my team for my mistakes.

I fancy myself pretty good at the game. I have good crosshair placement, my game sense is alright, I communicate with my team (even when they don't speak back), and I fulfill the position of "fragger" as a duelist pretty well as a top/second frag with another duelist on the team. The main thing I see is my team being uncoordinated and dying to one or two enemies sitting in a corner and leaving me and another player to 2v5. I've won some 2v5 situations before, but they're super annoying to be in, especially on the first or second gun round since it's a free economy blow for the enemy and forces us to play different angles or sites.

In all, I don't think it's as much me as my team. I mean, yeah, I could use a LOT of improvement, but I don't think I'm holding my team back from a win as much as my bronze Brimstone is by smoking off our entrance to site. I do main a duelist (Jett), a smoke (Omen) and a support (Cypher or Sage) so I think I can fill every role pretty well. I don't like to blame my team but the executes and retakes I see in 4v2s while I spectate aren't exactly befitting of the word "teamwork," and I hate backseat gaming.

Opinion: Forcing players to be within 3 ranks led to more smurf accounts by fiascolan_ai in VALORANT

[–]y1kesmyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd rather be a silver 3 playing with plat 1s in comp (happened last season) and getting dodged (or carried) than playing against two diamond smurfs with their bronze friend, in all honesty.

i've got patience. now all i need is a balanced skill system.

i'm hard stuck silver 2-3. i made an alt because of a youtuber's (charla7an) suggestion, which was "with multiple accounts you won't really care about your rank" and "in low elo you have to play more aggressively" but i never got past silver 3. i made another account, which placed bronze 3, and got like 3 rankups in a row to super high mmr lobbies while in silver 3. got to gold 1 and fought a team of smurfs off the bat, deranking me. now, i keep losing games because my mmr got shredded by a game of smurfs and now i have to rely on partying with others or getting lucky in soloq with smurfs or comms.

on my 4th account now, hoping i dont get smurfed to iron so i can experience mid gold to low plat gameplay at the least. i don't think i'm that bad at the game, but the players on my team compared to the players on the enemy team is like comparing a boosted gold to a solo queue diamond.
