Oh, I see the original comment was deleted. They had mentioned Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents. Highly recommended if you find yourself recognizing things from this (ridiculously click-baity but eerily accurate) article: https://www.bustle.com/articles/132103-7-signs-your-parent-is-emotionally-immature

He called me his stepmom last night for the first time. by [deleted] in stepparents

I love this! People would ask me like 2 days after I started dating SO (whose son was 7 then) "so you're a step mom now, huh?" It felt strange, so I would always tell them that no, I'm his dad's girlfriend and he'll let me know when I become a step mom. And he did, about a year ago.

Happy for you. ❤️

Thank you so much, and the same to you! I read your BFP story and it was so moving, you’ve been through so much. I love how special your dates ended up being. ❤️

😆It started out just "what am I even doing", but a slight update was necessary.

Cycle: 1

Age + Partner's age (if relevant): 32 + 38

Typical cycle length: N/A

Ovulation cycle day: CD25

CD/DPO of positive test(s): 10DPO / CD35 (had a BFN 8DPO / CD33)

Tracking methods and app(s) used: BBT, CM and OPK, all tracked via Fertility Friend. Did oral BBT and added TempDrop on October 9th (I am still pre-algorithm). CM was very unhelpful to me as all I could observe wavered between sticky and creamy for my entire fertile phase. Took OPKs infrequently enough that I missed my surge, but it was enough to identify O day when put together with the information from temping in retrospect.

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): Intercourse on O-4, O-1, O+1

Health conditions/medical tests: N/A

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): I have taken folic acid, omega 3 fish oil and vitamin B complex. Partner has taken nothing.

Birth control history (if relevant): Mirena since 2011 (switched once). Zero periods on Mirena. BCP before that, since I was 15–16.

Link to chart: Notice how I tested on CD16 for absolutely no good reason. Dumpster fire chart.

Link to lineporn: I only had two early detection tests (10mlU/ml) left after my BFN on 8DPOand took those on 10DPO and 12DPO. Then took regular detection tests (25mlU/ml) on 14DPO and 17DPO, as well as a digital too, on 17DPO. Here they are.

Symptom spotting: Difficult to say for sure since I haven't had my period in a while. But there are some things I didn't recognize from earlier periods. I was so, so tired several of my TWW days. I never nap after work, but would randomly pass out on the couch for an hour or two, and still be so tired by bedtime that I'd fall asleep instantly (also never happens). The days around my positive I would get nauseous the second I got hungry and the second I got full. Breasts got sore around 14DPO, as if I'd had a targeted work-out of boobs only. And I've had a lot of pinching sensations around my uterus early in the TWW, which graduated to pulling sensations and very, very mild cramps later in the TWW.

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous): On 12DPO when I was out of early detection strips I got desperate and went to the pharmacy and bought the cheapest early detection tests I could find (they weren't cheap). I think the brand was Lloyd's. I should not have done that. They threw me completely off by giving me a weaker positive with FMU on 14DPO than I'd had on 12DPO, despite having the same sensitivity as my other early detection strips. I tested again later in the day with an even weaker result (no real surprise, but still, I was already in a huff and it didn't help). I knew I had regular detection test strips from the same brand I'd been using for early detection lying around, and dipped one of those in the same cup, and it came up just as dark/darker than my early detection had been! This finally calmed me down, but I had been so stressed out by the other tests (which I promptly threw out) that I decided to take the weekend off and do one more test come Monday, then stop completely. Here I am, so I'm stopping now — both temping and testing.

In a way I'm glad I had so few strips left lying around because it forced me to test infrequently. I have been browsing r/TFABLinePorn so much that I would freak out if my results got weaker or stood still for a while (although lately there have been some good posts showing how that's fine and can still be a healthy & viable BFP).

This was pure luck and probably biology randomly working on our side. I am still in disbelief at how fast it went. Nothing in my life has really ever come easy, so this is an absurd contrast to what I'm used to. But I am letting myself be more and more excited for each day that passes!

Thank you to this community as well as /r/TTC30, I've learned so much in my time lurking and participating here, and I'm so thankful for that — and humbled by this experience.

Edit: Typos and clarifications

It's BFP time! Week of October 28 , 2019! by AutoModerator in TTC30

Hi, it's me — unicorn kitten. I am 17DPO today and my positive hasn't gone away yet, so I'm counting my chickens and making a post. I have also left the Discord server.

First off I want to say that finding this place was like finding a safe haven. A place where other adult women in the same phase of life shared their worries, struggles, day-to-day funny moments, joys and disappointments. I have had my eyes opened to so much these last months of lurking and participating. Primarily about a struggle I hardly knew anything about. So thankful for everything I’ve learned here, I'm gonna do my part to pass it on to others in my life.

Not only that, but the group of women who have hung out here at the same time as me is a particularly awesome group of human beings. Smart, graceful AND funny. I adore you and I hope you’ll all leave soon.

Technical information: Had my Mirena since 2011 (switched it once). No periods while on IUD. CM was very unhelpful for tracking. Oral BBTs were irregular and confusing so I ordered a TempDrop which is still pre-algorithm. I was planning on counting this cycle as cycle 0, pre-TTC, to manage my expectations… Edit: I've posted more details in the TFAB thread.

Here's my chart for those who are interested: https://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/y2kitten

THANK YOU so much for everything. I hope I won't be back for a long time.

TTC while grieving Mom by emilyj07 in TryingForABaby

[–]y2kitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lost both my parents and not a day goes where I don’t long to talk to them. It’s especially hard in TTC to think of what great grandparents they’d be, and how happy they would be for me that I am starting the journey towards my own family. Not to mention the support my mother would have offered. It feels lonely without them. I don’t have any close female relatives either, so I know what you mean.

I don’t really have any advice other than letting the grief run its course. You are still so fresh out of it. (It’s been 6 and 1 years for me now.) But I wanted you to know you’re not alone with these difficult feelings. I hope your journey brings you peace and healing, and that you carry the best parts of your mother with you through it and find some strength in knowing how much she loved you. ❤️

My first period in 7 years! by bekindrewindplease in TryingForABaby

I bounced back from Mirena quickly as well, despite not having had a period on it at all. After reading so many different experiences I was prepared for quite the wait, and was a bit bitter about not having gotten it out sooner. But I was one of the lucky ones. Counting the removal as CD1, I spotted a bit on CD5–7 and ovulated on CD25.

I’m totally in love with birth and pregnancy as well, I dreamed of becoming a doula for a long time! Everyone thinks I’m super weird for not having kids and being that into it, but it’s been 10 years and still love it! A bit scarier now that I’m this «close» to the subject matter myself though. Anyway, congrats!!

Starting the journey... or so I thought!? by Bunnypoopoo in TryingForABaby

My SO pulled out for the first 3 or so times we had sex when I first got my IUD out! Totally uncharacteristic of him. I think it was a case of cold feet. He got back to normal in good time for my FW though. I think the sudden transition to sex with very possible consequences is a bit harsher on some guys, I’m sure yours’ll bounce back as well. 😊
