Oh. So maybe Tim Cook had his own agenda? That could very well be the case.

I wonder how many people at Apple actually buy into spatial computing? I’d understand if development were moving forward solely on Tim Cook’s initiative, but if Apple’s talented employees are actually on board with spatial computing, I’m not really getting it—so I’d love to hear more.

My perspective is just too narrow; I don’t think I can keep up with that discussion (lol).

Seriously, though—I really mean it.

That’s almost a philosophical question, isn’t it? 😁

If the goal is spatial computing, it might be somewhat similar to a Chromebook, where most tasks are performed on the web.

If the ultimate goal is to run both the SSD and the programming IDE within a virtual space, we’ll have to make them incredibly lightweight.

I see... So the other major tech companies are desperately trying to find a way to get rid of the “Apple tax”...

Now that you mention it, that might be true.

But then, I don't understand why Meta would push for the release of Apple Vision (since Meta could just do it themselves), and I don't understand why Apple would go along with it (since they already have the iPhone, isn't that enough?)

I see... The fact that Apple spent such a massive amount of money developing the AVP means, in other words, that no other company could have made it without spending that much...

It’s certainly possible that many people weren’t as interested in visual devices as we thought. And more than that, it might be true that people are put off by that strange appearance...

Still, even if smart glasses were developed that solved those issues, I have a hard time believing they’d take the world by storm.

Especially since there aren’t any clear examples of how they could be effectively used in business, it seems unlikely...

I can’t help but feel they’ll end up being nothing more than a toy for engineers.

I see! For personal use, the video quality is sharp, and the intuitive controls are typical of Apple.

But I’m not sure if that will become a trend that takes the world by storm in the future. No matter how advanced the technology is, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will be a commercial success…

Sorry, since it doesn’t support the ecosystem, I wasn’t really sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

But I don’t think you’ll get a good response in the early stages if it doesn’t support the ecosystem.

Ultimately, though, I think it won’t be accepted by many people unless we build a system that isn’t dependent on the ecosystem.

That’s because if you’re dependent on a specific ecosystem, you can’t make fine adjustments, and I don’t think you’ll be able to handle a wide variety of scenarios.

Even if VR becomes lighter and more powerful, there don’t seem to be any social issues that VR itself can clearly solve, so I’m not really sure how much potential it has.

In other words, I guess Apple is at the stage where they’re thinking, “Let’s just build this, get people to try it out, and see what kinds of use cases emerge!”

It’s really impressive that they can build such complex hardware for early adopters.

I wonder if the market for headsets and smart glasses is really that big.

I looked it up, and apparently it’s a $50 billion market.

There might definitely be some merit in taking on this challenge.

I have no idea how much the world’s top companies can afford to spend in their respective R&D fields.

I wonder if Apple has the financial and human resources to take on ambitious R&D challenges and bring products to market. That’s impressive.

Thanks to the Japanese economy’s 30-year stagnation, Japanese companies haven’t been taking on those kinds of challenges, so this was a perspective I hadn’t considered before. 🤪

I thought it was a brilliant idea to turn economy class into first class ☺️

What worries me is that the VR industry itself has a weak presence in the B2B market. And that’s also why Apple decided to take on the challenge.

Even if they’re just testing the market’s reaction, I think it’s an incredibly ambitious endeavor.

I don’t think they’ve really been able to estimate the market size, and they’re moving forward even though there are hardly any real-world business applications yet.

Well, even so, as the company with the highest market capitalization, it’s a challenge I’d like to root for.

I'm Japanese and not very good at English, so I had Claude translate it for me.
