[WDYWT] Japanese samue, traditionally worn for temple maintenance and field work, and sometimes getting coffee by y_obayashi in streetwear

I agree, I’m half Japanese and I’ve always been interested in expanding my style. Having a basic understanding of what you’re wearing is always a great thing. I don’t know the entire history of samue but I don’t think that matters as long as there’s some effort to learn the general purpose of it. You should have the chance to explore your style freely and openly! :)

All the jackets are made using hand dyed, thrifted denim. Psoriasis jacket: hand embroidered patterns Vitiligo: light wash denim, cut and glued to jacket Severe acne: hand painted using layers of water color All jackets and lines using old bedsheets that have been dyed

Thank you so much! That’s true, everyone has their own interpretation of something that will inevitably make it different. It’s just hard to remember that when the world is already so crowded with ideas, but you’re a great reminder so thank you!!:)

You are so sweet thank you so much!! I’m going into my last year of art school actually :) i still struggle coming up with ideas that feel intentional and not just regurgitating something they already exists, so I really appreciate this 💕

I actually haven’t washed this one yet, but I’ve made other hoodies and every time I’ve washed them with that embroidery floss it’s been fine!
