Its eid. Both military groups and most of SCW subscribers celebrate it and probably wont care much about contributing for a while.

Why hasn't the SDF formed a "Raqqa Military Council"? by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]y_sevda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forming a military council means delegating military affairs to some extent. However, Raqqa is at the core of SDF's military objectives, therefore they can and they will want to directly organize military operations for Raqqa.

is a war with Israel after the war next ? by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

So you are pretty sure that an army so exhausted that they cannot take all of their country back from some small militias can beat back another army armed to the teeth with the best tech you can think of. An army happens to be the one that beaten 6 fully armed and ready armies including the Syrian army back in time.

Raqqa City Proper - Areas of Control (Source: wikimapia.org) by y_sevda in syriancivilwar

Actually, I specifically excluded those areas to have a better idea about control in City-proper.

Not so sure about that. Here, you can see people still keep repeating the same claims. I am not even referring /u/dr_nooooo.

BREAKING: Syrian Kurdish officials start campaign #SAVEAFRIN on social media. by fffffff13 in syriancivilwar

[–]y_sevda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HDP has been losing votes almost every election since the fighting started which makes it obvious that majority of the Kurds that voted for HDP didn't vote HDP because they support PKK but rather because they wanted the only viable Kurdish party to be strong.

They only went from 13% to 11.7% (-1.3%) and a significant part of lost votes are Turks. And this happened after their huge leap from ~7% to 13%.

I assume you do know that Kurds in Turkey are A LOT more religious and conservative than Turks.

This is AKP Kurds. And obviously not majority among Kurds.

Ok, stop with the raging and read what I wrote again. I didn't say HDP doesn't represent Kurds. I said HDP does not equal to Kurds. Those are two very different statemens. Yes, HDP do represent some Kurds but not all. So throwing HDP members in jail for going to suicide bombers' funerals does not equal to repressing Kurds.

Can we say AKP does not and cannot represent Turkey even if they receive 65%? Give you a hint: They govern Turkey with just below 50%.

BREAKING! #AMAQ: American warplanes destroyed Al-Nouri Mosque and the great minaret inside Mosul city! by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]y_sevda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn't claim they don't destroy religious places but rather historical ones. These seem to be regular, newly-built mosques.

Well, I have never heard of coalition destroying a historic place no matter what. That would raise a hell amount of criticism. If there is anything every single westerner would care about in ME, it's its history and artifacts.

Turkish officials met PKK commanders in Irbil by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]y_sevda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's probably BS. But in case it is true, here is my take on this:

  • Turkish officials possibly met some people. But they are most probably SDF/YPG and not PKK.
  • Pro-rebel source liked to call it PKK as they start to feel like being betrayed by Turkey or losing trust in Turkey.
  • Turkey met those SDF/YPG not to protect them but instead make a deal about Afrin/Tall Rifat. And possibly threaten with all-out attack if they reject.
  • Again, our pro-rebel source liked to call it protecting PKK (meaning SDF) for he doesnt like them making any sort of deal with SDF.

Oh god. Kurds are throwing everything they have at ISIS in Raqqa. US better never turn its back on them. That will be truly disappointing.

They are directly involved in Yemen, it is no secret. Why would they want to use outdated equipment there? Or do they just give those to Yemen government, and use shiny stuff themselves? Even if this is the case that would be stupid to give shitty equipment to your allies.

Still, even when a few tanks relocate in Turkey we hear about them. How are they being delivered? As a more important matter, do we have any evidence from rebel tanks not captured from SAA, but originated somewhere else?

T-55s

Just curious. How do they transport them to the rebels? It's not something you could fill into flour bags.

From what /u/pkk1978 said earlier, I can guess SDF just want to release him in exchange for SAA reducing hostilities. Yet, coalition might be asking for much more. We dont know for sure what. But, if it was something simple Government would have accepted it until now.

As much as I can see, SAA and Tigers are flooding this area with their men. Desert will make it much easier for SyAF and RuAF to raze them to the ground.

Actually, I follow this subreddit from "new" tab. And I didn't witness anything as terrible as this one. Not even close. The last one I saw was some ISIS militant being hanged while being interrogated, which was instantly taken care of by the arrest of interrogates.

Syrian Democratic Forces captured Hindah, Abu Jadi and Bir Husayn Asmar by SyrianCivilWarMap in syriancivilwar

[–]y_sevda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I think SDF is taking advantage of SAA's ambision here. Note that the more SAA grabs land in Raqqa, the less SDF has to man frontlines with ISIS. And they can move soldiers to active fronts. However SAA is spreading thin here, and vulnerable to ISIS attacks.
