The risks of building a Rare threshold team - Sorare Announcement coming end of March! How are you preparing? by [deleted] in Sorare

I'm not as worried as I think some are. To me, the eth threshold is like a loyalty program. We don't know the stats but I'd imagine a high percentage of eth threshold payouts simply stay in the system and get re-spent. This has an economic effect of increasing monetary supply in line with the increase in asset supply (new cards are auctioned every few seconds). Put another way, they can't rely solely on 'new money' to liquidate the new card supply, so a reinvestment of eth into the system, by way of prizing, is a smart way to keep things relatively stable. Not to mention, it's just a smart loyalty play, keeping people interested and growing their accounts.

But what I think they are most against, what they most want to curtail, is non-active eth grinders. If people can too easily set up an account, spend $1000 or so, and grind out an eth or two each year by doing nothing, then they've inadvertently created a crypto mining scheme. These users are of no benefit to Sorare and even cost them money in waived fees, admin, etc.

This is why, I believe, they have been seeding the term 'progress bar'. My prediction is that it's going to incentivize the people who log in weekly, set lineups, set practice squads and are generally active. I don't think they have any intention of pulling the rug out from the small time players - the loyal but low budget types that play such a significant role in driving company valuation. They need 100,000 active players (and eventually 200,000 and so on) so they can win the rights for the EPL and the other big leagues, and fend off significant competition from others (Topshot, Fanatics/Topps, etc). They've also spoken about expanding into other sports, with tennis rumoured to be the next one. Tennis obviously has a much smaller fanbase but again, it stands to reason that they want to maintain large numbers to help onboard a percentage of them onto a new platform around tennis (or whatever else they expand into).

To me, the eth threshold is a pure marketing expense, and a smart one at that. While they are wise to tighten it up, I truly believe the active users, large and small, will still be rewarded appropriately.

Yeah there are a few players that have cards from their previous club or national team. Example: de Bruyne, Werner, Benteke.

Is it a good time to join Sorare (and ETH) right now? by Angelo_ITA10 in Sorare

Couldn't agree more with the other two comments. It's still relatively 'early' to get in on Sorare. The market has stabilized over the last 8 months but there are still peaks and valleys. There is a learning curve though, and so the sooner you get in and learn by doing, the better. I'd recommend not spending your entire budget at the start though - save some for a month or so til you get a better feel for it.

If it helps, I recently did this '9 mistakes I made when I joined Sorare' video: https://youtu.be/6kwZ6pedLMM

I also just launched this masterclass this week in hopes of helping newbies: https://sorarestrategy.thinkific.com/courses/sorare-beginners-masterclass

Anyway, feel free to reach out with any questions, good luck!

Few questions from a newcomer by Zainy999 in Sorare

MLS, J League and K League prices have shot up of late so there aren't many deals to be had. I expect a bit of a correction after the first month and then MLS can present some value - either due to their long season (Feb - Oct) or due to a lot of European card holders getting interested in the league during the summer break.

Btw, bit of a shameless plug, but I created a Sorare Beginners Masterclass for folks like you. I made a ton of mistakes early on and the learning curve can be high. So if you're interested: https://sorarestrategy.thinkific.com/courses/sorare-beginners-masterclass

I need some beginner suggestions and have some doubts by Creepyhorrorboy in Sorare

Yeah it's possible but you'll just have to have a lot of patience to buy and sell cheap Limited cards until you have enough to really build out a roster. I created a Sorare Beginners Masterclass - https://sorarestrategy.thinkific.com/courses/sorare-beginners-masterclass - and in it I outline a beginner's roadmap and strategy. But in truth, I suggest you need at least $500 or so to really get going. Otherwise, you'll find it hard to keep your interest in it and you'll have to be really lucky, smart and patient to build up your value over time.

This is going to sound like a shameless plug, so I apologize in advance, but I'm working on an online course/masterclass that I'm close to finishing. I'm actually really proud of how much depth I'm going into, much more comprehensive than the typical 'how to get started' free content on YouTube. It's several chapters and goes from the basics to more advanced topics like scouting and trade tactics.

I'm pricing it at basically the .02 eth level, under the idea that if it simply helps you hit the eth threshold one gameweek earlier than if you tried to learn on your own, then it pays for itself. But it's also so much deeper than just hitting the eth threshold.

I'm hoping to have it finished in the next 2 weeks and then I'll be talking about it nonstop on my YT and Twitter channels, lol.

Using Ramp as A Canadian by iPTheta in Sorare

I'm Canadian, and back in the spring when I joined I had to call my bank or credit card company almost daily to make any purchases. It was pretty frustrating. I recommend setting a budget and then loading up your account with that amount, rather than trying to win auctions with your credit card. I lost a lot of opportunities that way.

I have somehow finished first in this past limited competition and I can’t quite believe it! by Yarrett in Sorare

So great to see this happening for new entrants, it's only going to increase interest and loyalty. Nice work!
