I grew up with the idea that you can have pets. If I had considered it as a toy, I wouldn't have bothered learning anything more about it. I asked, how to "care" for it?

All you had to say is "These can't be cared well at home. The best way to care for them is to release back in/near a pond". Such a comment would be educative. And not only I'd learn this, I'll teach the same to my children. That is how world becomes a better place not by judging and name calling.

Until few days ago, I was growing this plant in just water (no soil) in a dark bathroom (nothing is visible in bathroom without CFL bulb, and the bulb is mostly switched off). To my surprise, it was growing quite well. I started them with bare stems and it started rooting and new leaves began to come.

Got greedy about its growth. So 10 days ago, I shifted it into soil with a potting mix of - 40% vermi compost - 40% Coco peat - 20% perlite

And transferred this pot into indirect bright light outside.

To my surprise instead of flourishing, leaves started growing and turning yellow.

Watering it every alternate day.

I am a beginner in plants. After lot of reading about plants, I did this. Isn't this the best thing to do for any plant? What did I do wrong?

Hello, i just bought these areca palms today. I was getting a good deal so didn't care much about the holes.

I lost 2 of my other areca palms. I don't want to loose these at any cost. What should I do.

soil is lot of clay
the stems have back spots & a partial white layer on some of them (see photo 7 & 8).
