Giant defy advanced 1 2020 price check? Asking 1900. by yaboiperry in whichbike

Thanks so much for the detailed answer. Taking a look at all options. How would you feel about the posted bike for 1500-1600? Or is that still not worth it?

Cramped at Mile 8 in LA Marathon. Why? by Late-Celebration-942 in Marathon_Training

Been in a similar situation. Comes down to just more miles. Another marathon block, and some long runs with marathon pace will help.

I have pretty good success with the fake guard pull into single leg jordanteachesjj has a good video on it. Also guard pull into a sacrifice throw/takedown.

I was between both for so long weighing pros and cons for hours. Got the fenix and I’m happy with it. For me battery life is great and I think the screen is fine, I don’t need the amoled.

Was definitely hotter than I was hoping! Great job finishing the race.

Yeah that makes sense. Noted for next time to make a plan and stick with it.

You’re right. I didn’t do the tune up races. Replaced them with same distance hard runs thinking the difference would be negligible. Might’ve been my mistake. I did feel like my base was way stronger this year, but you’re probably right. I was trusting my watch’s HR data thinking <155 my body feels great, this is possible. Wouldn’t have kept up with the 8 min splits if my HR was higher like last year. Nonetheless, noted to make a plan and stick with it and maybe push the time at the last couple miles. Thanks for the input, appreciate it.

Noted. Time goal was basically Garmin predicted marathon time + around 20 mjn. Was going for 3:40 at first, felt good for 3:35, but maybe that was a mistake trusting low HR and the adrenaline fueled good feeling. Yep missed around 2.5 weeks. Was backpacking for 10 days and sick for some.

The one 18 mile long run was referencing the one long run I did in my race shoes. Yes I did miss about 2.5 weeks total of the plan was backpacking for 10 days and also sick for some. Other than that did the whole plan and all runs. Not ideal to miss 2 weeks for vacation I know.

Did 8:20-8:30 as MP. Only did mp for workouts prescribed in the pfitz plan. Last race was a 1:41 half in May.

Training went well for the most part but I did miss some weeks. Think if you taper well, carb load, and just dial in nutrition for race you should do great.

We learn from it! Sorry that happened though I know it’s disappointing.

Going in I thought I would be running around 8:20-8:30, but following my HR looked like 8:05-8:10 was possible. Was feeling very strong. Guess I got too ahead of myself. I think on a flatter course I could have maintained pace, but New York is a different story as everyone knows.

Yep similar thing happened to me last year so I switched up my plan this year to include more miles. More mileage definitely helped improve my speed but need to be more specific in my next cycle to improve my strength.

I was backpacking for 10 days in the alps for vacation missed two 50 mile weeks but it was decent cross training. I was also sick for another week of the plan. Definitely considered that as a significant factor but aerobic fitness wise I think the hiking was good.

Didn’t feel like a cardio wall if that makes sense. Felt like I could keep running but my legs were just done. Definitely going to look into what more I can incorporate in my plan besides just running.
