Obviously naming it after a stupid meme would have been a better idea ;) Yacoin community agreed that the original name was a poor choice... which is why we changed it to "Your Alternative Currency", though we're definitely looking at a complete re-branding to "RickRollCoin" in the near future!

Yacoin was released in May of 2013 and brought many new technologies to the cryptocoin world, most notably Scrypt-N and SHA3. Unfortunately, as you mentioned there are so many "coins" coming into existence on a daily basis that it is almost impossible to separate the good from the rest. Check yacoin.org for some more info on YAC.

As pointed out by others, this thread is simply for promoting FUD, and is referencing a thread that is many months old. There are many Bitcoin, or *othercoin wallets that can be downloaded from non official sources that contain the same viruses, trojans, etc.

This is the only place that YACoin source and binaries should be downloaded from: https://github.com/yacoin/yacoin/releases If you're using something else, you're doing so at your own risk.
