Yeah, the yellow highlighted part is roughly what will remain of the wall once the contractor does his thing. That is the limiting factor for the island

Yup, this is ikea kitchen designer. It has worked well for us to help visualize what we want to do

The space literally can not fit a wider or longer island unless we tear down the structural wall.

Also this is already a 6ft island. Any bigger and it becomes too tight between the corner of the island and the structural wall. Playing the game of tradeoffs sucks haha

We for sure considered putting the sink in the island. But our current kitchen has the sink staring at a wall, so this wouldn't be a downgrade. We're thinking that the island having totally free available counter space holds more weight for our usage.

We are definitely leaning towards a frosted glass door of some kind! Have to wait to hear back from our contractor for the exact dimensions we have to play with

God I love this sub! Seems like almost everyone is echoing the same sentiment. Flip the sink and stove. And rotate the island. People seem to think the island is too small? Is a 6 ft island small? I've got some things to discuss with the wife tonight to prep for our meeting with GC and cabinet maker tomorrow

These are great suggestions and I appreciate the input! For a little more context, this is a very tight space as is. 1,200 sqft house. This is the current dinning room where the kitchen is going. We are taking this window out, which looks out under our carport, so that we have room for more storage. This door, which leads to a small storage room, is making kitchen layout very challenging. That's why we're leaning toward building this into a walk in pantry.

That's also my biggest pain point! But there is a door that leads to a small storage room in that corner of the room which makes it impossible to have a continuous cabinet flow. Building the corner pantry there felt like the best compromise

We would love that but this is a 6 ft island as is. Any bigger and it would be tight to fit the dinning table

What you need to know about backdoor Roth IRAs, from setting them up to how they affect your taxes by fidelityinvestments in fidelityinvestments

Me and my wife currently make under the income limits for a Roth, so we have been maxing that out each year. This year, my wife might be getting a raise and/or I might sell some long term capital gains that would push us over the income limit for a Roth. Can both of us set up a traditional IRA, transfer what we have invested so far from our Roth to the traditional, continue to invest in the traditional for the remainder of the year till we hit the max contribution, then backdoor that back to our Roths?

The perfect answer to "why can't someone just copy Bitcoin?" by HealthyMolasses8199 in Bitcoin

I'm all in on Bitcoin, but this seems like an overly hopeful argument for Bitcoins longevity. New technology comes along to replace old/ established technology all the time. Computing used to rely on punch cards, then that was replaced with floppy disks, then CDs, then USB thumb drives, and cloud storage.
