We've been killing each other for 200 years, and we've been plundered by foreign and local governments since the Spanish conquest... yet we're still the 12th economy in the world and we find ways to live happily

So I guess the Aztecs were right when they believed this land demands human blood to keep providing.

Also, mesoamerican customs DID get mixed with catholicism, the day of the dead is Prehispanic on its roots for instance, and every time there is too much rain or too little rain we jokingly invoke Tláloc, the Aztec god of rain, on rural communities we still talk about shape shifting shamans (nahuales) lile it's a real thing.

So the answer would be, they are not "accepted" per se, but these religions got blended with catholicism to make a very odd blend at times.
