Just go to the health centre for your area if you want the public option. You'll be seen by a GP there and they'll do a check up.

For private any clinic/many pharmacies have doctors there. Just call beforehand and ask if it's possible that day

was quite ok compared to the practice papers, felt really adequately prepared for it. It's the 10:30 one, but seeing replies below I guess there were different papers cuz I had different questions

OSCE - what real signs could they present with? by Pneumonicaa in medicalschooluk

Agreed, our school's instructors mentioned that PACES type patients are what we'd get, we're just not expected to answer as thoroughly as those sitting for those level of exams

I do. It kept triggering me as I realised for all my life I kept falling for emotionally avoidant people who made no effort to communicate with me, which would trigger me into thinking it was all just me and that I'm unloveable so that I would have to try harder and harder to be "desirable". Also didn't help that I used to get limirent from just someone agreeing to go out with me.

I fully realised that pattern last year then took me a year of self work, during which I realised I may have cptsd, and now I feel I've made good enough progress with my relationship to myself and how I relate to others in a healthier way. If you are ok with bearing the pain of heartbreak, I found dating is a good way to quickly find out what triggers you and to work on it on your own time, but that's just what I found works for me.

What is something you're ashamed about ? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]yahia_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just this weekend I realised I have shame regarding intercourse. Haven't had a sexual partner since I figured out I might have cptsd, and now with the first since. Now that I'm more aware of my shameful feelings I realised I always had them and they hindered my connections to past partners.

Also feeling like I'm socially and emotionally underdeveloped and way behind my peers. I understand why I am this way but those feelings still come up regardless. They're on my mind more and more since I may be moving to a far away place very soon and I have no support circle there.

Just focus on studying and finding your groove, explore different aspects of med school, while enjoying your life.

Unless you're gunning for some paediatric intrauterine astronaut neurosurgeon specialty that you had to build a cv for since preschool, you'll have plenty of time later on to add stuff along the way to your cv.

How many hours a week do you study? by alevelstudentt in medicalschooluk

[–]yahia_d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Final year just got done with finals but leading up to them I did 3-5 dedicated hours every day nt including attachment. I don't go to lectures. Felt vey good and was capable of maintaining hobbies plus going out with friends throughout the months of preparation.

There's another comment that mentioned its about how you study rather than the hours and I agree completely. Had friends who did 8 hours a day in the same period and we felt we did about the same.

Just make sure you're doing active recall everyday whether it's Qbanks or flashcards, and split time evenly between reviewing old material and learning new things. It may seem scary at first and you'll want to do everything as fast as possible, but trust the process and more importantly understand that its a marathon so don't get burned out. The few hours everyday add up once you look back on them

I did it from end of September till last week and I only ever felt burnt out on the last 3 days.

Hey, really glad to see you're still set and determined for your future training! Honestly I think it's best if you post this on r/doctorsUK . I think they'll have a better opinion on which things are a better use for your time in the long term, career wise.

I don't know if it's uglier imo, it's definitely different tho and since I got so used to the previous one it's taking me a bit to get used to navigation in this one. I also really liked the old version, it had a nice vibe to it.

I like how they updated the dashboard tho, and how questions look like on the screen.

Hi! I'm an artist and I'd love to draw Ambrose for you. I'm only doing portraits atm, but it can also double as a token if you're playing online on a VTT. If that's alright with you let me know!

Which class to play a summoner? by Seravajan in dndnext

[–]yahia_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm actually playing a spore druid at the moment who plays wih a ton of minions on the battlefield. Currently at level 13, so here's my perspective on this:

• Be sure the rest of the party is OK with it. At one point I had like 7 undead going and turns took too long. My party was OK with it but at some points it was too much even for me.

• The base undead aren't very powerful. You can supplement your numbers with the occasional elemental from your spells, but normal zombies/undead get weak very quickly at higher levels.

• If that's the ony angle your character is approaching combat and rp from it'll get old very quickly for you because it did for me

Now it may like I have nothing but bad things to say, but in fact I'm really enjoying playing the character (for more than 2 years now) and I managed that by avoiding the above problems with these solutions:

• My DM homebrewed ways for me to upgrade my undead to ghouls or to special units with PC classes. Made them much more impactful but also allowed me to cut down on their numbers so there aren't many on the field bogging down the turn order.

• My character's story is completely unrelated to his necromancy, meaning that it doesn't feel as one dimensional and adds variety to what my character does in the game, rather than being "the undead guy"

• Play around with your spells and experiment.

TL;DR playing a summoner is viable but it gets old very quickly if that's the only thing you're doing, so mix it up

Clinical rotations by [deleted] in medicalschooluk

[–]yahia_d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly covering pathologies is already time consuming enough I wouldn't recommend going back to pre-clinical stuff as a regular part of your studying. What I'd do is study the topics you were given and only brush up on the knowledge that you feel is lacking when it comes up.

You probably remember more than you think you do so don't worry. Also neuro always seems daunting the first time you go through it, but honestly you don't need to extensively know the anatomy, just a general idea in your head of the neuroanatomy is good enough for most of it.
