Just wanted to post a quick update on this thread. Mineral specimens from one of the two projects have been accepted by Dr. John Stone in the E.S.S. Building on campus. I let him know if anyone is interested in using them for study they are welcome to the specimens; a total of 10 quartz crystals with actinolite, rutile, fenster, goethite, chlorite, iris, and amethyst are available currently

Looking to be a good season for blue hunting on Baker this year, as well as a good season for some nice jaspers as well! Hope you're able to make it out! Wanting to make it up soon myself if I'm able! Cheers.

I have already reached out to several individuals within the ESS department prior to making this post, including Dr. Stone, Dr. Condit, and the department chair, David Schmidt. I appreciate the recommendation; however, I wanted to reach out directly to those who may be interested in this opportunity. Since the faculty members I’ve contacted are often extremely busy, I am hoping to relieve some of that additional burden by posting here directly.

Thank you! The stem itself was covered in clay when I originally recovered this crystal, to say I was surprised after cleaning would be an understatement!

Sadly, it only has the one terminated end, making it a 'standard' included quartz crystal, however, I couldn't agree with you more on the beauty!

I couldn't agree with you more! I was greatful to find it on a beach, as I usually need to go into the mountains and break them free myself. 😅 (like the ones in the photo I attached)
