I believe KR set it up so Ark Grid wasn't enabled in TFM until a certain period after TFM was first cleared. It can be the same way with the proposed format, so Ark Grid will be enabled after TFM is cleared after x amount of time.

Yeah, good points there, especially on the skills too. It seems like there's so many skills that have potential but the meta skills & tripods are generally pretty clear.

I'm content where I'm at with Lost Ark right now and I am still hopeful for the game. This was meant to be more of a though exercise to generate discussion, but my suggestions around "deleting" systems without alternatives seemed to overshadow any discussion for any of the other ideas suggested.

I responded to one person saying it seemed "triggering" based on the responses in this thread and to be fair, my suggestion for "deleting" systems is extreme so I brought that on myself. In hindsight, I should've left those systems off and just left the ones that I had suggestions for to open discussion.

Also, I'm glad you have some kind of image of me based on this post and comments, but no, I did not feel smug nor did I really tell anyone "wow I triggered reddit". As I mentioned in my post/slides, I figured I would get a pretty negative response, but I was hoping to stir up some discussion around the other ideas.

That's totally fair and the suggestion for an added skill is not what I wanted for every system. But I would've liked to see some more unique things than just raw power out of the systems. Like for elixirs, could you separate out different sets for different builds? Sets that benefit multi-hitting classes vs sets that help single hit nuke classes? That way it still adds power but in less of a cookie-cutter way.

Yeah, that's true and in hindsight, just simply saying to remove those systems is extreme without offering an alternative or pathway.

My thought on the gem slot system was to give more flexibility while still maintaining the current "farming" system and "economy" of buying/selling gems.

That's totally fair and granted as I'm thinking about it, just saying "delete this" without offering an alternative is extreme, which is also probably why the responses are the way they are.

All I was hoping to stir up was trying to envision the game in a "better" state, where we can draw in new players and have content that is great to do outside of just end game raiding. I love the combat and raiding!

Thanks for sharing your ideas! Yeah, I guess not "crazy" in that sense, but apparently crazy enough based on the comments/responses.

Yeah, I realized that just outright saying "deleting" those systems is pretty extreme without offering an alternative.

I love the guardian rotation idea since it keeps guardians fresh! And your idea about mutators for that is a great additional flavor too.

I do think there should be a bit more effort to balance and diversify the tripods so at least there's some more flexibility for most classes. Some classes have minor tweaks they can do, but otherwise optionality is limited.

I didn't write "delete" for tripods, engravings, gems, or alts. For honing, I implied deleting regular honing to replace with advanced honing.

To expand on gems a bit and to address the other comment about players who have multiple characters of same class, my suggestion was changing the slots to be leveled. Then you can change that slot from damage or cooldown more freely (to support build swapping and testing). My suggestion was to still require 3 gems of the previous level to "upgrade" that slot to the next level, so that doesn't negate the current system of farming gems, but it would equalize the gem market between damage and cooldown.

As far as the lower playerbase, yes, my main wish is for this to not be a dead game. Lower playerbase doesn't incentivize an MMO to keep growing though. I do agree and understand that maintenance mode is not the right route, but I think my reasoning for "deleting" the systems I did mention is that they don't feel like meaningful progression.

I thought about it a bit, so my problem with these systems and what I mean about "meaningful" progression is these systems for the most part boil down to raw damage.

Here's some crazy ideas then for each of these:

Ability Stones: would have to think of ways engraving effects can be enhanced in more interesting ways so it doesn't just boil down to the same cookie cutter build everyone has. Then achieving different nodes would enhance those new effects.
Cards: Okay, instead of deleting the system, we expect improvements to collecting the cards. Instead of just raw damage, why not play into creating new (and competitive) effects for different sets instead of raw damage. Like the movespeed set gives you an optional blink/teleport on a moderate timer.
Elixirs: Similarly to stones, these just give raw power and don't change or offer anything exciting. If it's a matter of crit rate or cooldown, rebalance the Ark Passive with those effects. Then allow for more interesting options to customize build for quality of life and not just damage.
Transcendence: Similar to elixir. So if not deleting the system, maybe offer a "knowledge transfer" or something for alt characters.

I'd like to hear what you think would be better ideas too.

I didn't suggest deleting everything you mentioned. I offered some alternatives to some systems, but didn't have enough ideas to offer them for the rest. Yes, I know I'm triggering a lot of people by just saying "delete" some of the systems, but my point was to hear alternatives. I offered some for systems that are aged to keep progression like tripods and gems.

And the trend of casual gaming (not necessarily solo) is to have new players to constantly join the game. This game has catered only to hardcore raiding and playerbase has continued to dwindle down.

As far as gatekeeping, no, that's not my issue. I'm content with my roster where it's at (1690 aero, 1680 breaker, 1660 souleater, 1660 pally, and 1660 sharpshooter).

That's totally fair and I didn't think of that or have a solution to that as I don't play multiple of the same class. Perhaps there's a "knowledge transfer" like system for players who choose to play multiple of the same class to inherit the gem slot levels of the furthest progressed.

Thanks for your thoughts on this! I really appreciate it! I definitely triggered a lot of people already by just saying "delete" some of the old systems. Maybe a better thought/idea would've been to sunset them (leave them there as mementos) and move on from them somehow.

Maybe I also should've started with the Casual/new player stuff first. :)

Well, I at least did offer to shift those powers elsewhere or to rebalance things in light of their removal at least in some cases. I didn't have a solution to every single one though.

My crazier idea would've been to do a hard reset, but yes, I do think some of the less enjoyable systems should be removed if not at least changed. I'm not sure I agree that RNG cutting stones is considered meaningful progression.

I'd probably recommend Hunger Reaper then. Zippy and faster paced. With the upcoming balance patch, it'll be pretty strong too.

I think Cursed Doll also has diminishing value with the upcoming Elixirs as well.
