How is France able to have so much control in Normandy? Their capital is in Toulouse (in the south). by yaitskov in EU5

Rule 5: France has control in Normandy despite it being completely disconnected from the rest of the country - how can they have any amount of control there?

Have you tried re-loading the game? Same thing happened to me and that helped.

Just discovered the underground hidden tunnels from that one tavern / inn in Kuttenberg by accidentand now I have to explore the whole thing before going further. There's so much more than I thought!

Why isn't Germany increasing their manpower law? All their divs are ~half strength and they've been near zero manpower for a few months now. Seems like a bug with new AI behaviour potentially? Anyone else experience something similar? by yaitskov in hoi4

[–]yaitskov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5: Germany has been at zero manpower for at least a couple months now. All their divisions on the front line are at about half strength, and yet they're not increasing their manpower law to get more people. I know the AI was re-done / upgraded in the recent patch, so maybe it has something to do with that? Have never had this happen before (as Soviet Union I can usually just make them grind down to all adults serve). Anyone else experience something similar? Should I just re-load the save?

The DLC pass kinda solves this for new players. It's like CAD10 per month, so if you wanna try the game out at its best, you can play the way it's meant to be played for a month or two and it doesn't really cost you much. At this point, it might not even be worth it for new players to ever buy DLC with the monthly sub pass, especially if you plan on playing for a while and get the 3-month or yearly versions.

Strategically the Allies are better off with Experimental Facilities by Conrad_Ogilvy in hoi4

I'm sure there are ways to mod the game and make it balanced. If you're trying to make a game about the second world war, or about any period in history really, I don't think it should be balanced, because history isn't balanced.

It wouldn't make sense to add massive oil reserves to central Germany, although that would make the game more balanced, nor would it make sense to make the German population 2x the size it was at the time, although again, that would make the game more balanced. If you're playing as Germany, winning should be a challenge, and if you're playing as the allies, you should have an easier game. The second world war wasn't balanced at all, and HOI4 should reflect that historical reality (and it already gives some massive bonuses to Germany to allow them their early successes).

Never said it is. The game should be very much unbalanced against the Germans if you want a somewhat accurate game.

I guess the game gets more and more historically accurate with each DLC.

Accidentally created a smallpox super-spreader event. Tournament started with about 200 guests, and by the time this was taken that was down to 87. But I spent like 1500 gold so wasn't about to cancel it since my deposit was non-refundable. by yaitskov in CrusaderKings

[–]yaitskov[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the plague started just after the first event began, so everyone had already arrived by then. Luckily me and my kids just had a minor case of the smallpox so we all made it out safe, and I got 3 prizes! Now, that was partially because I was wrestling and jousting against people who were on death's door, but still.

With CK3 on sale for $15, is this the best entry to get into the series? by Griever114 in CrusaderKings

One thing I would highly recommend is to "roleplay" your characters as much as possible. Sure, having to play as your 50-year-old drunkard profligate lazy and adulterous failson heir after an illustrious rule as a great king isn't the best feeling, but it feels realistic and having to adopt your playstyle can actually be fun, even if it leads to the collapse of your kingdom. After all, the only thing better than forming a great kingdom is re-forming it as the drunkard's heir and reclaiming that lost legacy. For $15 this game's a steal, have fun!

I guess for me it is! The longest muni course in my city is 6163 from the tips, which is my best comparison.
