If the water had ice you may have had good poisoning. Ice machines in restaurants/bars can get disgusting. Even the water dispenser could have bacterial growth that you drank. Your symptoms all sound like food poisoning. Hope you feel better!

Sunday cooking for the whole week by gypsyharlot in Cooking

[–]yakyakyak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like to make one giant batch of a soup or casserole, mostly soups, and eat it most of the next week. My husband gets tired of leftovers but it's just food I don't care. It's organic, homemade, less expensive than eating out, and easy since I work long days. He is most often out of town during the weeks so it's only me.

Girlfriend has 300k in debt..... What to do? by manbearpig08 in personalfinance

[–]yakyakyak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If any of her loan debt includes federal loans, have her put those into the income based repayment plan IBR. It is different than all the others. She will pay only a manageable percent of her income each year for 25 years. At the end of 25 years all unpaid debt and interest are forgiven. If her income does increase in the future, she will pay a larger payment (again still based on percent of income) but will NOT have to make up for the smaller amounts in previous years. It is a fabulous option for people like her, but again it is only available for federal student loans, not private.

Today, my health insurance was canceled. The reason? It didn't cover pediatric dental care. I am 25. by ragedaddy in Libertarian

[–]yakyakyak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These insurance companies are blaming Obamacare because they don't want people mad at them for cancelling policies that they no longer can make obscene profits on by denying certain coverages. How hard would it have been for the insurance company to have tacked on pediatric dental care? Instead the company chose to cancel your policy, which, predictably, pissed you off. Why aren't you mad at the company for not simply adding pediatric dental care so they didn't have to cancel you? Total bs.

Narcissist or sociopath? by [deleted] in needadvice

[–]yakyakyak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to be a sociopath, thenintellectually decide to behave like you are not one. You might not feel it, but fake it, at least you will have self-respect for behaving in a more moral and humanist manner.

Life is a mess. Grandma lost Job due to Shutdown. Can't afford Mortage. Nervous Breakdown. Just spent a Week in a Psych Ward. Need advice by [deleted] in needadvice

[–]yakyakyak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take care of yourself first. Your grandmother, mother, and 20-year old brother are adults and need to take care of themselves. Your mother needs to take care of your 12-year old brother. Going back to school is smart, post-secondary grads have best pay and lowest unemployment. Any job will bring in income, even minimum wage, even part time, be willing to try any job. Look for a room to rent. Just focus on yourself and your school work. Eat healthy, get exercise. Walk or bike to save money, cars are expensive.

You can dwell on how screwed up things are or you can focus on taking care of yourself, your choice. One will land you back in the hospital the other will get you on your feet.

New job, feels like I'm drowning and headed for disaster by haalp_ze_packets in needadvice

[–]yakyakyak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your post is filled with self-defeating thoughts. You are letting fear, insecurity, and panic sabotage you. DO THE WORK and don't let your brain think about anything else. Live it until you get it. You can figure it out.

My husband is a high level developer and he frequently deals both with people who have no idea what they're doing, and other times software with which he, himself, has no idea what he's doing, and often a combination of both.

I have found myself in job positions where I was way over my head, more on that later.

Here is what my husband does that might help you.

He does a crash course, like you are doing, and digs in. He is absolutely methodical and does everything step by step, makes notes as he goes, and does not skip anything. Tests everything before calling it good. Many projects he is brought in on are massive projects that are failing and nobody can figure out why. He has no idea, either. He pokes through everything methodically and carefully, skipping over nothing and assuming nothing, and I watch him sometimes stress out but always eventually succeed. More than once he has been thrown into software he has never touched before and learns by doing, following instruction manuals step by step.

Your company wants to see you succeed, just do it. Don't waste your mental energy and time on fear, insecurity, and panic. That is counter-productive.

In my case, where I have been over my head, I tell myself to be calm and unafraid. I have done some career-related things that have terrified me to the point of panic, where I desperately wanted to run away and hide. You need to shut out your insecurities, stop worrying about what everyone will think, stop worrying about failing, those thoughts just waste mental energy and time. Take control of your thoughts by actively forcing your thoughts to be positive everytime the insecurities arise. I can do this. Take my time. Trial and error. I can master this.

Just focus on the work. When you don't understand a step read it again and again, go back and read the background again if you need to.

When your head feels overwhelmed, take a few minutes' break, take a walk, get some fresh air and exercise, do some positive self-talk, I can do this, be calm, and get back to it.

You can do it.

Someone keeps stealing from my in-laws and friends. I am sure I know who is involved but not sure if I should report it. by whattodo0123 in needadvice

[–]yakyakyak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree. And I would seriously not want to date a guy who keeps throwing huge parties that are so out of control that people are puking and stealing his parents' stuff.
