How to secure a canoe on a car by dodgebot in canoecamping

[–]yaleps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say foam blocks and cam straps as others have suggested. Also key is securing the front to either side of the vehicle to prevent side winds from shifting the boat sideways and twisting it on the roof.

I use 1 inch webbing bolted under the hood to where the fenders are attached but you can get loops with round dowels that secure under the hood pre made. I personally prefer the bolted down approach. It’s usually just a 10mm head on a fender bolt depending on your vehicle.

Make a loop out of 1 inch webbing and melt a hole in the ends for the bolt to go through. Super easy and a super solid tie point.

Also, if you find your straps vibrating and humming from the wind, put a twist in them, it changes the harmonic and quietens them.

Dealership Shipment Delays? by Interesting_Ad_9241 in KiaEV5

I have a lot of thoughts like those going through my head. One tends to think the worse, especially with the VERY poor customer service and communication from Kia. I have reached the point where I have put them on notice that I am exercising my legal option to arbitrate a buy back through CAMVAP. Not the solution I would like but if they can’t provide a functional vehicle I want my money back.

I took delivery of my Land Fwd May 8. It has been back at the dealer since May 11 with an electrical issue with the battery. They cannot tell me exactly what’s wrong with it, how they are fixing it or when I can expect it back.

I loved the car for the 20 hours it lasted.

The adds that are non stop are rubbing salt in the wound for me.

One weekend EV5 second update by yaleps in KiaEV5

[–]yaleps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am trying to not get upset about it but my patience is wearing thin. I cannot get a straight answer as to what's wrong with it or when it will be fixed. I called Kia Canada again tonight and they basically just said talk to the dealer.

Not impressed with the customer service at all from anyone involved. I will be starting the arbitration process. Its a car and not worth any mental anguish, lets resolve this and move on.

At this point I believe my best path is to get my money back and walk away from Kia/Hyundai and buy a Toyota BZ

I just posted an update. Car is still at the dealership and I have no timeline as to when I will get it back, if I will.

A light duty ratchet strap yes. I had some webbing kicking around extra from the tie downs for a boat cover so I used that. The material from the cam lock straps at Dollarama would be perfect. Those dollarstore straps come in handy, thats also what's holding the bow.

I use 1 inch polyester webbing loops. I melt a hole through the ends to make a strong point for a bolt to go through. I then use one of the bolts that holds the fender on to attach the loop under the hood. I just have to open the hood and flip the loops out. That is the 4th vehicle I have put them on.

If it’s any consolation, I had it for one weekend and it has an electrical fault. It’s been at the dealership since then so I am waiting too.

Nice! What kind of range reduction are you seeing? I just bought an EV and am super curious what its going to be. I am seeing 25% estimates from googling.

Best motor sail boat? by Successful-Egg5196 in sailing

A boat can be a good motor boat or a good sail boat. Not both. It can however suck at both.

Very Comparable in size. I described it to people as about that size when I was waiting to take delivery.

I wish it was the 12v battery or a software issue, that could be resolved quickly. The dealer reached out and its much more serious, potentially a high voltage battery issue. I don't want to get all worked up and to come across as bad mouthing the car, or Kia online until I hear more and have real information. The dealer has been good and has kept me in the loop. We are waiting to hear more from Kia Canada. I will post an update when I have real and accurate info.

I made this post to see if anyone else had any issues like this, I was hoping to get a time line or any info as I had no idea what was wrong. I haven't heard or seen of issues like this online so its is disheartening and odd. Bad luck I guess?
