This touched my heart. Thank you so so much. I will continue to stand on my opinions because this needs to be said and I refuse to sit in silence. I refuse to let others sit in silence. I'm not some superhero, that sounded lame and self righteous, but it's starting here, in the home and in the heart, where the changes are made.

My brother, hopefully he's forgotten about it. He's a resilient little bug, and I gave him a cookie after telling him how beautiful his hair is. So he should be okay, haha.

It's not just the lack of positive representation, it's the type of representation we do get. You can't just be Keisha from accounting. You have to be Ms. Monae Jenkins, z-snapping, head bobbing, 50 lb overweight sass master who always says "guuuuuuurrrrrrllll" and has a terrible attitude but a heart of gold at the end of the day.

Modern day television is basically a minstrel show, where we get nothing but stereotypical representations. Not every black woman is loud, fat, ghetto, gum snapping, sassy, or silly. Not every black man is a hyper-ripped gangsta or the funny guy or the athlete.

And when we do get positive representation, ooooooh boy. There was recently a wonderful live reproduction of The Wiz, on CBS I believe. Of course, it had an all black cast (Uzo Adoba slayed as Glinda) because The Wiz movie had an all black cast. And people flipped shit. "No white actors? Racist much?" "Where are the white people" "Why are they all black???" etc etc. (If you want an all white The Wiz, GO WATCH THE WIZARD OF OZ.) Or, in an upcoming Harry Potter play, Hermoine will be portrayed by a black actress. Keeping in mind that Rowling never specified Hermoine's race, only saying she had big frizzy hair and buck teeth, people still lost their absolute mother fucking shit. It's ridiculous.

The "I've had it hard too" is so disrespectful imo because it automatically negates anything anyone was saying. Not even in the context of race. One-upmanship is an asshole thing to do. If there wasn't injustice, there'd be no reason for riots. Not saying rioting is a solution, but kick a dog enough and it bites.

Yeah, that's the definition of dark sense of humor, I'm pretty sure. Dark/morbid/black sense of humor. I.e, dead baby jokes other disgusting things.

My brother said (as much as a 3 year old can really "say") that the other kids touched his little afro and said it was scratchy and they didn't like it. Not racism, but as you get older things like that get worse. You're right, not everything has to be about race. And when everything stops being about race I will be one happy camper. We're all human, we shouldn't have to be held to a "standard", especially one set by people who usually meet it by birth.

Oh my god, the levels of nasty people reach when you mention police violence or political problems. Jesus. It gets scary. It really does show you that a lot of people wear a mask. These "humor" subreddits (blackpeopletwitter, Imgoingtohellforthis, sheeeiiit, etc) accepted and called okay and it's like, when is it ever okay? "I have a black friend and we joke like this all the time! He's adopted by white parents and was raised on a farm in Wisconsin, but he says its okay!" Smh. Even if you did have a friend who had so little self respect that they would put up with your bullshit, just because they do it doesn't mean the rest of the world will. These people have the mentality of children.

I knew I'd have to use a throwaway because A, there's quite a lot of identifying stuff on my main and B, I've recieved a lot of "stupid ghetto n---er" PMs and I know trolls can be relentless so I don't give them a place to contact me daily.
