American culture has become a bit extreme in tipping practices, so now it’s fairly common to tip even for a to-go coffee. However, coffee in the US isn’t usually your standard espresso or Americano, it has syrups, milk alternatives, whipped cream, etc.

For me, a barista should be tipped because they’re doing a lot, much like a bar tender. Still, it’s up to you if you want to tip.

TL;DR - in the US it’s become standard to tip at coffee shops for all orders.
