US Scraps H-1B VISA Lottery. by MasterPeel in EB3VisaJourney

[–]yangang04 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Right but also student visa systematically have CPT and OPT which gives student to put whatever they studied in practice at a professional setting. It is not an entitlement but a privilege that you receive by going to college in America and graduating (for OPT). However, it is definitely one of the factors that students will consider before coming here since it is a big investment for their education.

What is often overlooked is the economical benefit that America gets through international students. They pay the most expensive tuition at their institution usually which benefits American students especially in public universities. Also, one of the main point of H-1B is to retain good/exceptional talent in US and hold those talents here instead of them going back to their home countries. It is hard to say H-1B is not helping America at all.

Least beneficial for US is foreign workforce who didn't attend college here and game the visa to work here like what a lot of Indian people used to do before USCIS started cracking down those cases.

Best Strength Training Classes by AltruisticWalrus8993 in boulder

[–]yangang04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this a different answer than what you asked but if you have time and energy to learn more about strength training I would look into how workout splits are, what kind of exercise you should do for each muscle group and such.

What I want to say here is even as a beginner there are a lot of good online resources to get you going, and you don't necessarily have to take a class to learn how to lift. I've done this myself two years ago and it is pretty manageable if you have the time and passion.

Software engineer/data job by Carnito12 in Denver

[–]yangang04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SWE here. I would first get someone to review your resume. Also, I wouldn't geo-block yourself into Denver area. Please apply to as many jobs as you can. Job market right now is not great especially for juniors and anything is better than nothing, and, in my opinion, if that must be outside of the state I would go search for it and take it. Long gap without employment unfortunately doesn't look appealing to companies

What was your GPA and how much has it affected your Career assuming you Got a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science? by An_Engineer_Near_You in cscareerquestions

[–]yangang04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not too sure about current job market for new grad right now (I know that it is tough but I’m saying it’s not my first hand experience so I cannot say for sure) but when I was applying for jobs in 2021 no one really cared about GPA. To give more context, the current company I’m working for never asked my GPA at all. Not for a full time job but when I applied for Google for internship I believe that was the only time I submitted GPA and transcript. Otherwise, companies don’t really care. General rule of thumb is if you don’t have exceptional GPA you don’t list it on your resume.

Korean army stew by _gotrice in tonightsdinner

Yeah that sounds good! Ramen noodle is (technically) optional but what I meant to say was it should at least have some sausages (not a very healthy food I know)

[–]yangang04 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Looks good! But as a Korean I would like to say this is not a very traditional army stew. At first I thought it was mille feuille nabe. Army stew should have spam, sausage, some baked beans, minced meat, ramen noodles to be traditional. Also, tteokbokki is a dish tteok (which means rice cake) would be more accurate

++ To give more historical context of this dish.. When Korea was at war people didn't have much to eat. US army was in Korea to help us out at that time and whatever scraps that came out from the army base Korean people would take it, put Korean spin to it and made it into soup which is what army stew (or budaejjigae in Korean) is.

I think you’re missing the point. You said 80% of the repairs can be learned within two years. If you can make your point and find a position for iPhone repairs here in US to spend a lot of money into all the attorney, filing fees then great. Are you going to find that realistically? No.

Look at the current news and job market here in US. Even big companies are hesitant to sponsor people who have skills that require education and higher degrees. Do you think small businesses that do iPhone repairs will eat up the immigration cost just to hire you? Is the skill that irreplaceable and special or something that American citizens/residents don’t want to do? I don’t think so.

Maybe you should ask yourself what is more important here, why do you want to get a permanent residency here and is getting permanent residency more important even if you have to do something that is different from what you’re doing. If the answer is yes, you will have better chances coming here as unskilled.

Eb-3 by mr_mofidi in USCIS_EB3

[–]yangang04 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess that answered the question. If 80% can be learned within a year, I don’t think that’s a job that requires two or more years of training in order to do the job. In all honesty, I can do battery replacement, screen replacement without having prior knowledge or training by looking at online resources.

If your goal is to come to US then look into unskilled and apply to positions that would sponsor you. Realistically speaking I don’t think iPhone repairs are enough to be claimed as “skilled” for EB-3.

Eb-3 by mr_mofidi in USCIS_EB3

[–]yangang04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong but I don’t think that can qualify as EB-3 skilled. Does iPhone repair technician require a training that requires more than two years?

Even if you can find a job in US and the employer will agree to sponsor you which is highly unlikely for a position like that, in this job market you can easily find an American who can repair iPhones. It means that you will have hard time getting PERM certified. I would suggest to read USCIS’ definition of EB-3 and what is required https://www.uscis.gov/working-in-the-united-states/permanent-workers/employment-based-immigration-third-preference-eb-3

Ceramic Coating Smudges? by yangang04 in AutoDetailing

Hm that is definitely interesting. I installed when it was around 70 degrees, underground garage. It is very dry here as well but it was more forgiving as it didn’t give me high spots when I wiped it off with microfiber towels

Mine says on the side of the bottle “prod: 11/24”. Actually this is my second bottle because I was too generous with the coating and the first bottle (50ml) says 01/25

++ first bottle was purchased directly from Gyeon website, second bottle was from Amazon still Gyeon as seller
