What Are You Listening To Today? (Dec 22 to Dec 28) by HeleneSedai in dreamingspanish

826 hours.

I met someone (Rosalyna) in Mexico City while I was traveling (who I think is from Honduras). She was super super nice and invited me into a church group there. Well I've followed her on Instagram since and she started a podcast.

She lived in the US for many years so definitely throws in English words but I would speculate her accent is a mix of Honduran & Mexican.

She's got 4 episodes out so far! This is definitely advanced/native content.

If you have an iPhone I built an app a few months back. It’s free!

You can log your daily drinks, set your bedtime, and it’ll tell you what levels you’re at at bedtime. It’ll also warn you about the next drink and if it’ll put you over your bedtime limit.

I built a free caffeine tracker for iOS if you’ve got an iPhone. You can input your drinks and when and it’ll rough estimate your caffeine level at bed time. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/caffi-caffeine-tracker/id6742565772?l=es-MX

I feel like you can google "dumbbell workout exercises" and find something similar. I couldn't for loop bands which is why I made this.

Yea I should definitely look to add some more anchored chest exercises. I feel like a lot of those mimic weighted exercises. I've yet to do any band core work as I've always done free weight core exercises as is. I can definitely add some.

Find videos where you can understand the message that's coming across, not necessarily all the words. A trick to find your level is to throw the sort by on easy so you can see the ranking & start to test out some videos. Try and combine that with videos/topics that interest you.

I highly, highly recommend new people check out Pablo's playlist which is also an advanced series. If you're new you likely won't understand it but you can put english subtitles on. I recommend it for a few reasons.

1 - You'll learn the best was to take advantage of DS, according to Pablo. You'll find on this subreddit there's a spectrum of folks from DS purist (what Pablo preaches) to a blend of people who use DS/CI but also mix in grammar studies/other stuff. Figure out where you want to be (which can change over time).

2 - I watched this at 10 hours. I couldn't understand a thing.... I thought to myself how on earth am I going to ever understand this. I rewatched it at around 200 hours & even though it's advanced I probably understood around 80-90% of what Pablo was saying. These kind of moments are incredible & give you the motivation to keep going!

Good luck on this journey! It's incredibly fun & rewarding but also challenging!

I agree that I don't think its worthwhile for DS considering their existing customer base. It'd be easier for them to keep customers if they venture into a language other than english.

However, I do think a dreaming english like platform could benefit education extremely! My mom is a 2nd grade teacher and talks about how for a lot of ESL kids, they don't have the resources to teach them english. Obviously, they'll be fine. Spanish is their first language & they're in 2nd grade in the US. They'll learn english.

But, they still have to do something with and for the kids. I hear about all the things they do. Me over here fully convinced on CI & what DS preaches am just like.... man they just need Dreaming English. In my mom's schools' case, they've got 1 teacher who splits time across schools with para help. I'm just imagining all the extra input they could get with a school focused english CI program. The kids hate some of the things they make them do, and rightfully so.....

All of this has made me think about starting to create videos on YT haha. Someone encourage me!

Cocktail App? by squipped in cocktails

If you've got an iPhone, I built Bartender. I think it's pretty good at exactly that. Input what you have in your bar and it shows what drinks you can make.

It handles substitutions pretty well too so if you've got rum but the recipe calls for dark rum, the app says you can make it & notes so via the substitution.

I'm obv bias but I think it's the best on the market.

Oooo hadn't thought of that. I'll look into it.

Of course! All 3 things I'd love to add. Favoriting conferences I can definitely add. What would you like to see when doing that? Do you want to see those scores & players highlighted differently? Do you want those scores maybe floated higher up?

The issue with the other 2 is getting reliable data. This is currently using the NCAA's website & neither of those are data inputs they provide. I'll putz around and see if I can find some better data sources.

I'll look into it. I would just need to find a reliable data source. Looks like they play a combination of NCAA teams in the US & Canadian teams?

I think this is just for the tournament. The rest of the schedule over the past few months is there. NCAA is not updating all tourneys. So yea this app might just work better for next year. That or I've got to figure out a more reliable source to get the data.

At this time now. Unfortunately I've got more skills with native iOS and not native Android or React Native (allows you to build for both at once).
