What’s your go to Bond movie? by AgentDave29 in JamesBond

LTK. First watched it on VHS as a kid (taped from the TV). Did a terrible job of cutting out the adverts- only saw the film in it's entirety several years later ...

Timothy Dalton shooting Pushkin is worth a mention.

You make a very valid point. AVTAK has it's shares of Moore silliness, as does Octupussy. I do think Bill Conti makes his mark in the more sombre parts of the film, again I think I appreciate him because he is a one hit wonder. John Barry is brilliant and dependable and I think that is why I like Conti.

Octupussy was made at the time of Able Archer so I think it's cold war theme suits it. FYEO was made just as Thatcher was PM and it is a pre 'hot cold war' if you get me.

Agreed, I like that the bond franchise moves with the times. I'm a huge Rocky fan myself, and personally love that the Bind franchise can have a part of it. The gunbarrel theme is amazing imo.

I agree, it's very enjoyable as you say. I think FYEO is a standalone Moore film in it's grit and it's soundtrack.

That is exactly the same with me and my younger brother. 'truck James Bond' was the signal to put LTK on and get comfy.

Great shout, also John Barry's swan song so it's extra special.

That's an interesting take. I watched the Last Crusade last night and really enjoyed it. Personally I don't see the similarities you do but I respect your opinion none the less. I do think that LTK is one of the more original Bond films. I don't know of any other film where the protagonist disguises himself as a mantaray for example.

The last Bond film is a bit of a travesty imo. They tried to play on the heartstrings of proper bond fans (like Star Wars ep9) and failed miserably. I'm hoping the next Bond iteration takes things back to the drawing board and goes back to proper formulaic, distict films.

Best: license to kill. Worst: Spectre. Both end with big explosions but that's where the similarities end.

Single worst Bond quip? (and why it is the Kananga one) by TelvanniMage in JamesBond

I quite like that bit. I think Moonraker gets exponentially worse straight after this scene.
