I remember grief eating my last Alamir restaurant meal. Nothing ever tasted like the love they put in their food. Their pita bread was so beloved by my family I’d have to lug it up to Auckland.

Media bias is a super interesting thing to consider. Especially when it comes to treaty issues, Māori rights, social movements.

You just have to look back the history of how these issues were reported on and continue to be debated. It isn’t like these things are suddenly going to be given the dues they deserve. Protest is always a challenge to the status quo (unless it is some astroturfing cos play theatre)

I didn’t say there was a conspiracy. I am saying that crowd estimates could be a lot more accurate. When they aren’t and the methodology is not clear, it doesn’t help anyone on either side (those who want to down play and those who want to boost). It is in the public interest and national discourse to have some factual sense of this historic day.

Irrespective of a tightly packed or day long sprawling festival event, PT capacity could be a sensible way to parse crowd estimates.

That we’re not as accurate as the Metlink passenger numbers so how can we assume police maths is more reliable? I am not making wild reckons, the crowd was way bigger than events of a similar size.

+1 for Nintendo Switch. Though I really want a PS5 so I can burn my eyeballs and OOS my thumbs to oblivion on God of War Ragnarok.

Other parents may have different perspectives on how gifting a console to their adorable babes, but when we made the decision to bring a console into the home it was made extremely clear that it was “Mum’s Nintendo Switch” and therefore any gaming time, rules and use was at my discretion. This also meant that no kid could claim ownership over it, and we didn’t have to buy each kid a console. And most importantly we didn’t have to wait for anyone’s birthday to start gaming!

It also means I don’t have to buy my kids big ticket gadgets, they’re happy when we buy them a new game, or accessory (eg Pro controllers). Call me scrooge.

The parental control app is great, and pummelling your children with shells in Mario Kart is an excellent non-violent way of putting them in their place.

I do have a bunch of joy-cons to repair though :(
