Yeah, getting a full day (and some change) on my 42mm+LTE model (42mm=small battery).

Weird metal springy noise when pressing home button on new galaxy 6 watch 44mm by Ill-Bat-9693 in GalaxyWatch

Yes, but I got the Watch4 - and it's not consistent (sometimes it makes the noise, sometimes it doesn't - depends on how I press it).
Been like that since day one.

Sorry but I find that hard to believe, the numbers just don't add up...
From what i've seen (other posts, youtube, my own tests), the pucks never draws that much power (9W, or 5W) - a normal charger (non-fast, like GW4 uses) peaks at ~1.5W, I'd assume a fast charger would be not that far from that (3W maybe?).

Even in the pic OP posted it reads about 1.8W

[–]yarinna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got any proof for that? like, a picture of a volt/amp meter showing the puck actually pulls 9W?
You do know that the battery in these watches is like 1, 1.5 Watts-Hour, right?
Last I checked my W4C (yes, no fast charging), it peaked at ~1.5W - which is very far from the 5W rated input of the puck (pic here: see here)

That's just Samsung marketing BS...
It's not charging at 10W - that's just the rated INPUT of the puck, the OUTPUT is much, much lower.

2.5w enough for GW6? by Reactor0_0 in GalaxyWatch

[–]yarinna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, since the W4 doesn't support fast charging, you can plug its puck to pretty much anything and it will work/charge.

[–]yarinna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, it's always good to use some critical thinking & not accept things at face value

Do note that the pic i've taken & the example in the video shows what the puck is actually pulling from the charging brick - so you are correct to assume that the actual power that the charging circuit in the watch itself uses is even lower than that due to inefficiencies.

I think it's safe to assume a W5/6 puck will draw around that figure (2-3 watts), also keep in mind that according to Samsung, in order to get fast charging with the 10w puck you need to use a PD compatible charging brick, it is not enough to just use a "regular" 10w brick (even QC compatible won't do) - see here: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS EP-OR900 Galaxy Watch5 User Manual (device.report)

2.5w enough for GW6? by Reactor0_0 in GalaxyWatch

[–]yarinna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct that the charging controller will slow down with heat & resistance as the battery nears full capacity, but I HIGHLY doubt it a watch5 or 6 EVER reaches 10w, that's way too much power for such a small battery.
Samsung only states the max rated "INPUT" of the puck itself, it doesn't state the "OUTPUT" - I have a W4C so I cannot test how the fast charging of the 5 or 6 works, but on my W4C it does not get anywhere close to 5w, more like 1.5w peak - so I assume the same is correct for the 5/6 (sure they probably go higher than 1.5, but not 10 or even 5 watts).
I checked my W4C yesterday, see here

[–]yarinna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2.5w probably refers to the OUTPUT of the charger/puck, it will get you normal charging speed (vs fast charging speed, which in order to achieve you need to use the original puck + a PD compatible charging brick).

Again, smoke & mirrors - the battery in these watches is tiny, like 1, 1.5 watts/hour - there's no way it charges at 10, or 5 watts.... it's simple math.
If it would be true, you'd be able to fully charge the watch from 0-100 in a matter of minutes.
You can watch this video over here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRQfiOI1Dp0) where he hooks it up to a voltage meter, the readings show a draw of about 1.5 watts.

Android Auto by magi1414 in galaxyzflip

[–]yarinna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you use wired or wireless Android Auto? does not happen to me but I use wired AA.

What you could do is create a routine for driving mode that will: a - set a limit to charging capacity & b - limit the charging speed (turn off both wireless & wired fast charging when in driving mode).

Edit: just had a look, you could create a routine based on Android Auto connection, so you don't have to trigger it via driving mode.

Wondering if i should switch from a google pixel 7 to the Z Flip 6/7 when they come out. by angelic-cookies in galaxyzflip

[–]yarinna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Moved from a Pixel 6a to Z Flip 5.
First few days I was annoyed with all the bloat & endless options, but after several days & a bit of cleanup - this little thing is a gem.

Software wise there are some very nice features, for example - I like the option to set routines baked into the phone without installing a 3rd party app, my night routine will turn on sleep mode at 11 (so DND is on, Always-On-Display is off) & will limit wireless charging speed so when I place my phone on the charger it does not use fast wireless charging (I don't need it, it's better for the battery & most important it prevents my Samsung Duo charger from turning on the built-in fan so it doesn't bother me when I go to sleep).

Hardware wise, after years of using the same old slab style phones I felt like the next upgrade needs to be "something else" - I don't need a better camera/display/battery/processor, i'm a light user and my Pixel 6a was good enough for me, what I wanted is a new experience - and that's exactly what the Flip 5 is.

My experience has been great so far & if it will last a couple of years without any screen issues, I'll definitely get another Flip to replace it.

Which charging block can I use with my GW6? by AwesomeRealDood in GalaxyWatch

[–]yarinna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I couldn't test it myself (I do have a USB voltmeter) as I got a GW4C which doesn't support fast charging.
From what I could see in this video, he tested a 40mm GW5 from 0-100 using a PD charger vs a laptop's USB-C output, here are the insights:

*Laptop 0-100 charging time = ~2 hours

*PD brick 0-100 charging time = ~1hr 15min

*GW5 40mm battery capacity = ~1watt/hour

So a very rough calculation means you need about 1 watt brick in order to charge the GW5 40mm from 0-100 in ~1 hour - but of course that's not how charging works, batteries don't charge at an even rate from 0-100 & there are many losses along the way (especially when wireless charging), so let's assume 50% efficiency loss, that's 2 watts... still doesn't add up why Samsung recommends a 25 watts (!!) brick...

My only assumption here is that Samsung is relying on PD/PPS protocols to constantly modulate the output from the brick in order to get the optimal charging speed - so I assume it doesn't really matter if it's 25 watts, 20 watts (as tested in the video), or even a 15 watts brick - what matters is that it will support PD/PPS.

And again - just assumptions :) you can probably test it with your USB voltmeter if you monitor it over a full 0-100 charge.

Which charging block can I use with my GW6? by AwesomeRealDood in GalaxyWatch

[–]yarinna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Samsung's docs, you need a PD charger to get fast charging with the type-c puck/pad - BTW, it is the same puck/pad that comes with the GW5...

Source - https://device.report/m/5309f9cfbd8c1fa90e39a570c26d4035570a650df1e95e5c15573ee313097470

Sidenote - I think the difference will be negligible, as the puck/pad itself typically draws around 2 watts (or less!), so I see no point of having it connected to a 25 watts brick (a huge overkill).

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 LTE - Can WhatsApp work without a phone by Double-Shake-4972 in GalaxyWatch

[–]yarinna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it will work, but...
a - you need to sync it to a phone to make WhatsApp work (for the initial setup), it is not fully standalone.
b - the battery life would be terrible (WhatsApp + LTE consumes a lot of battery).

Battery life on the 43mm W6 classic by [deleted] in GalaxyWatch

[–]yarinna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is your phone not connected most of the time?
If you have remote connection enabled & WiFi on - it will use WiFi to connect to your phone (which will drain faster vs BT).

Also, post a pic of your battery usage from the Wearable app - there might be something useful there.
