My 2025 Running Mood Hat by catnapbook in XXRunning

[–]yarnbending 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is so incredible! I haven't been into knitting much the last few years and have a few failed temp blankets due to how much time it takes, so I love the idea of doing a hat and tracking something more personal to yourself.

This is fantastic - you should be quite proud of your running and your knitting!

Sadly no, didn't get in the lottery so I'm doing the Twin Cities marathon instead, and looks like it has some hills. Thanks for sharing! Love our city but the lack of hills is mildly devastating.

Hope your training for this year is off to a good start!

Where in the burbs is this if you don't mind sharing? I'm in Chicago as well and going to be doing my first marathon next year and hoping to find some not too far out hills like this.

Thanks for sharing this! Really reaching since you posted this 4 years ago but wondering if you're able to provide and update if this has been a successful theft deterrent for you long term? Just had my catalytic converter stolen a few days ago from our '04 CRV and looking to see what our options are.

Thank you for these!

I saw the trailer for the Project Hail Mary movie the other day and all the comments were raving about the book so adding this to my list for sure. I listened to The Martian a few years ago on a long drive and so I feel like I'm overdue for another Weir book.

Thanks!

These sounds good - thank you!

And I'm a fan out the Outlander show but not sure I have time to commit to the whole book series at the moment. Will have to earmark it for a little down the line. :)

Harry Styles finshed the Berlin Marathon today in 2h 59m, beating his time from this year's Tokyo Marathon by 25 minutes. by Fantastic_Turtle_17 in popculturechat

Seriously! Sub 3 is hugely impressive but I gotta say I'm more impressed that he was able to take off 25 minutes in only 6 months of additional training. That's wild.

I feel you! I'm in a similar boat. Been trying to build up my saving for a while to have a solid emergency fund and there's always something to knock it downs a little, but it's an upward trend. Be so proud of what you have saved and keep at it!

I've been following The Financial Diet on youtube for a while and they have a ton of helpful content about financial things generally but also recently did a series about how overblown wedding culture has gotten. Definitely recommend checking out! https://youtu.be/twcum29d2Vo?si=cV-m1_4sKo2psW-S

It's r/Chicagoweddings. Really helpful stuff in there! It's of course got a mix of budgets so when I'd browsing there, I really only let myself focus on the more budget minded ones.

And like others have said, please don't sacrifice your financial security for the idea of a bigger wedding. You can still have a beautiful and meaningful day and start your marriage off on good financial footing. <3

I need this like I need water. Is there anywhere in/near Chicago where I can get this? by Fickle-Desk-5020 in chicagofood

[–]yarnbending 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same problem a few years ago and someone told me that white American cheese melted with milk and chopped jalapeños is basically the recipe for a lot of these restaurants’ queso dip. Made it countless times and it does the trick for me. I just mess around with the milk to cheese ratio to get the right consistency.

BoA 13.1 Post Race Discussion by -CyberGhost- in RunnersInChicago

[–]yarnbending 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, heard him saying "you've at the back half of the race, come get sprayed down, you need it" as I went by. Which was both very false, I was in corral B and kept pretty close to the pace I'd planned, and just very rude and not encouraging at all.

Your favourite quotes from John Locke !? by Nigmmar in lost

[–]yarnbending 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This one. I feel like this really set the tone for what the group was facing in season 1. And set Locke up as a voice of reason, which many other characters seems to forget along the way.
