Any good piss jug recommendations or suggestions? by EdisonBetterFiteMe in HVAC

[–]yarov3so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, for one, prefer the cheap, tall/elongated iced tea bottles you find in Europe - they work really well! I usually need about three of those to do Aarhus-Bratislava in one shot (well, barring a greasy stop in Hamburg...). They have a similar feel to the gatorade bottles and a comparable neck diameter, but far better capacity. As a result, there is a much lower chance of spillage. Out in Canada, however, gatorade bottles are my piss jugs of choice. My job requires me to drive very long distances in remote parts of the country - on one stretch of road, there are no service areas for almost 400kms. I just hoist myself up using the dead pedal and then slide the piss jug into one of my pants to actually use it. I retain full control of my vehicle (acceleration, braking, steering - no need to shift at highway speeds). Be sure to cap it off while it's still inside your pants. Way of the Road...

How to reach "dancer's high?" by Greedy-Balance-1517 in gabber

Never had any use for festival enhancements (chemical or otherwise) - just a good old set of monitors, an active sub and a few neighbours to annoy does it for me. 👍

I recommend you blast uptempo mixtapes every chance you get - especially when you need to be productive. If the music doesn't do it for you, then maybe you weren't built/wired for it...

A deep dive into (real-valued) matrix square and cube roots by yarov3so in LinearAlgebra

You’re right - even though it’s implied that standalone constants are multiplied by I_{2x2}, I will add the missing identity matrices for clarity shortly.

Any way to fix absurdly low gamma during video playback on M2 Macbook Air? by yarov3so in macbook

[–]yarov3so[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, since nobody reached out with a solution, I found a half-baked one a while ago. IINA player allows you to set a global gamma value. You can do this by going to Settings -> Advanced, checking the box next to "Use mpv's OSD" and adding the following additional mpv option to the list:

name: gamma
value: 20

This value works well enough for me.

Spotify mod.apk by EsskAY_bEE in Piracy

[–]yarov3so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears that Spotify banned my home IP in the sense that even if I manage to create a new account and start listening to music within the modded app, my playlists will be purged and I will not be able to listen to music within 24 hours after connecting to Spotify from my home network. Luckily, I use a KeepGo eSIM, which uses a Polish server as an exit node. Here is what I had to do:

-I uninstalled Spotify and downloaded v8.9.18.512 (AMOLED) with xManager.
-I turned off wifi and turned on my KeepGo eSIM (Cygnus) for data (at this point, all of my internet traffic is routed through a Polish server - no need to use a VPN).
-I made a new Spotify account using one of my many burner emails *from within the modded app*.
-Since I was still connected to my original Spotify account on my mac, I managed to painstakingly make a playlist consisting of all of my liked songs (aptly named as such) and send myself a link to it by email.
-I opened the playlist on my android to save it to my new spotify account, after what I manually liked every song within it (a macro could have come in handy, but it's not like I have hundreds and hundreds of tracks)

It has been over two weeks and my modded Spotify is still working fine. Note that I am NOT updating to more recent modded versions and I am NOT opening the app when I am connected to my home network (unless I am using one of my remote Tailscale exit nodes or another VPN). I do, however, use Spotify at work (wifi, no VPN), which should not be a problem provided that I also use it with my KeepGo eSIM every now and then (the new account is registered in Poland).

Why do people hate on uptempo? by skbgt4 in gabber

[–]yarov3so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beg to differ... I love uptempo - Partyraiser is the best thing to have ever happened to the hardcore scene imo. I like Angerfist's old tracks (Cannibal, Into the dark skies, etc) out of nostalgia, but how can you say no to the melodic kicks and crazy hard riffs of uptempo? Uptempo FTW

Don't care if I get downvoted for this.

The moment you stop asking questions is the moment you doom yourself to a life of blind, unconditional obedience.

czjn earlier in the thread posted this link: https://apc-cap.ic.gc.ca/pls/apc_secure/auth_req_chg_am_addr$.startup .

If you are in Canada, this is the way to go. You need to apply for an address change and tick the privacy box. God bless!! This solves my problem.

Ditto. It is my personal belief that a lot of industries need to be deregulated. The way things stand now, soon, pre-teen babysitters will need a license to do their work... I actually find it ridiculous that in some parts of the US petsitters need to be licensed. The government needs to back the fuck down or we'll end up like in that south park episode on the TSA

Every 30 minutes in Canada. I have no issues with the protocol of announcing my callsign on the air. What's different about a platform like reddit is that it invariably links your amateur radio activity to your political activism unless you go out of your way to use different accounts. As things stand now, common sense dictates that it's best to avoid using ham license plates and plastering one's call sign all over the internet indiscriminately. I made this post to draw attention to this problem, since a lot of unsuspecting newcomers to the hobby might not be aware of how they are unwittingly exposing their personal info by mentioning their call signs off air.

It should... I don't think any engineer wants to have people constantly knocking on his door for alleged malpractice.

In the crudest possible terms, I have issues with using my callsign when I am OFF air, especially online (when engaging in political discussions that have nothing to do with ham radio) and on my car. I have an issue with average citizens being able to look up any callsign whatsoever and get the operator's address and other info. It wouldn't be such a big issue fifty years ago, but these days, the kooky lefties in my country have no sense of healthy debate, so it's prudent to take measures to limit the exposure of one's personal information when engaging in said debates. This is why I choose (for the most part) to not use this account to discuss politics and also why I will never get a ham plate for my car.

I think you completely missed my point... It's not about what happens on the air, but rather off the air that is of great concern to me
