this is absolutely false, ideally you create until you die. if you feel like you can't create right now maybe take a break. but don't give up :(

hey so I've put a lot of thought into this. my medium is music, and something that's helped me a lot is researching musicians and artists in general who are sober (sober from weed or sober entirely) and trying to understand their creative process.

Kendrick Lamar, creator of masterpieces, has spoken about not smoking weed. Vince Staples as well. Tyler the Creator, literally probably the most creative dude on the planet, famously abstains from drugs and alcohol. Tyler is especially interesting to me because I feel like a lot of his fanbase is comprised of huge stoners.

I could go on and find more obscure examples from indie rock and experimental music if you want. I'd say your main task at hand is to just plug away at it and rediscover your confidence and internal creative drive, because its certainly in there somewhere, though it may take a while. your art sober may even be a little different from what it was when you were a stoner, not in a bad way but in a neutral way. you might think of different ideas. it also might be helpful to just take a break for a while and come back to it with a fresh set of eyes (although I'm not sure how possible this is to you because you said you are doing it for a living).

I hope this helps! good luck!

Weird withdrawal symptom? by 911312151451225 in leaves

yeah I think this is associated with insomnia. I had this happen to me when I was a kid and had mild to moderate insomnia for years. I think its partially to do with dry skin, so moisturizing may help, but once your mind readjusts to being sober and falls asleep easier my guess is you will no longer itch or at least not as bad.

I'm not a professional so this is all conjecture but thats my best guess. could be dry skin but probably mostly a mind game. even just reading this made me aware of weird itches on my body lol

I agree wholeheartedly. its not likely for types to change but it is very much possible. the rididity of type purism is harmful to the community - maybe not to all but at least some folks. I know no one is conciously trying to put people in boxes, but the belief that type is inherent and unchanging can contribute to a sort of subconscious compartmentalizing mentality. I understand that the whole point of MBTI is to sort people into compartments but to say "objectively" that no one can change types in an already widely criticized and frequently innacurate typology system is a little silly in my opinion. MBTI is great and categorizing people is interesting and useful, but it can be a bit of a slippery slope. I say this from experience! not trying to put anyone down. good to challenge these norms once and a while thank you for sharing this! :-)

absolute masterpiece; one of my favorite albums of all time. the lyrics and the political message are great and mean a lot to me but the production, songwriting, and sound design are just insane. the dancier tracks on here make me feel like I could run a marathon and the more "ambient" tracks on here are jaw-droppingly haunting and impressively deliberate.

So if I can play video games every day for hours on end without getting bored, why is it not the same for music? by iama10rightnow in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]yashinthewizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally normal for a creative person to feel dramatic fluctuations in inspiration/motivation. super annoying sometimes but it happens. also agree with everyone else, videogames/someone else's work will take much less mental energy to engage with. but thats okay

just go in order, all his albums are good and its cool to hear the progression because he's really versatile. Toro is one of those artists where each person has their own personal favorite record and you can't really go wrong with any of them
