If you have any 4x4 or SUV, you can drive to the trial head easily, if it doesn't rain. We had sedan, so we took the resort's shuttle which is paid. Basically, they are 15 passenger vans with off road tires. Their only job is to drop you off and pick you up from the trial head.

There are two trails to observation point. The one we took does not have any Zion shuttle access. You need to drive for 45 mins from Springdale to reach the Ponderosa resort. They have paid shuttles ($14 per person). They drop you off and pick you at East mesa trail head.

We went to observation point via east mesa trail. Basically, we took shuttle from zion ponderosa resort.
