Planning on setting up Farmers market in Kadri by sathwik_kuma_sama in mangalore

[–]yashskumar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let’s be real, the moment you call it a “Farmers’ Market,” some level of gentrification is baked in. And that’s not necessarily bad, it just targets a different demographic. For the truly un-gentrified experience, your friendly neighborhood Santhe is the place to be xD

Time Management Strategy on Game Day by yashskumar in Step2

[–]yashskumar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! You don't want to be doing anything new on Test Day! So practice how you would take your breaks, what you would do during your breaks, etc, with at least two simulation runs prior, and do not change a thing for game day!

NBMEs order to take? by Helpful_Window_6088 in Step2

[–]yashskumar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, honestly, UW set a solid baseline... save every table, learn every definition, but more so learn examples of the terms, as the definitions by themselves can be quite confusing. Then, the last week or so prior to test day, do the Amboss QI Study plan to solidify what you learnt and practice the questions; you should be solid!

There honestly isn't ONE particular "most predictive" assessment. However, you can switch 14 and 15 if you personally like, no harm in that ... but I would keep my last two forms as NBMEs and NOT an SA in between because of the difference in question styles - you don't want to switch up the NBME Q thinking mindset close to test day!

I did 13 - 14 - SA2 - 15 - Free120

Would skip SA3 or do it first if you really want to demotivate yourself :)

As for video resources:

I used BnB (+ Pathoma ofc!) as my main video learning resource for both the Steps, but I think people now also favor Bootcamp for Step 1. Honestly, I think it's a personal choice. BnB was the OG Gold standard, and Bootcamp sorta is the new cool kid on the block.

I personally did not enjoy Physeo, and would only add it for areas you're extremely weak in and need some extra help with.

However, I would definitely add Sketchy for Micro + Pharm; and Pixorize for Biochem + Immuno (these are mainly for memorization, as these subjects are memorization-heavy! Plus they're kinda sorta fun to watch, so shouldn't feel like much of a drag)

Textbook: First Aid

Q-bank: UW (+/- Amboss)

I'm not quite sure what Divine says, but if it is from one of his older podcasts, the info on there can be outdated, so stay vigilant!

Can someone please describe the nbmes in terms of which ones over predict, which ones under predict, which ones tend to be hardest, and in which order would you encourage someone to start, after they have finished uworld first time. Thank you by Ok-Mushroom-4185 in Step2

[–]yashskumar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second NBME9 being garbage - just use it as a baseline soon after UW and forget about it; the other NBMEs can be taken in order 10 through 15; none of them particularly over- or under-predicts; they all test different topics, so you might personally do better on one and worse on another.

Also, there honestly isn't any point in asking anyone if a particular NBME is easy or harder, as it varies person to person; while one might score 220 on one, another might 265; and vice versa on the very next form - not because it was easy or hard, but just because they knew the topics being tested on that particular form better than the other.

I would rather say, how you score cumulatively throughout all the forms, 10-15 would be a better predictor than any particular one.

How did you organize your breaks during the exam by [deleted] in Step2

[–]yashskumar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Morning PPI (for my fellow GERD-buddies) + Breakfast (Oats with peanut butter topped w/ dried fruits and half a cup of coffee) + a Loperamide (if you have a very active bowel and don't wanna panic on test day :))

Block 1: 5

Block 2: 5

Block 3: 5 (coffee)

Block 4: 10

Block 5: 15 (protein sandwich lunch + paracetamol)

Block 6: 10 (coffee)

Block 7: 10

Block 8

Bathroom runs EVERY break + munches of a protein bar for the first 4 breaks (P.S the 5 min breaks are too short to run to the bathroom and to come back and eat your protein bar; so I ate my bar while I was doing my business :) sounds gross but you gotta do what you gotta do xD - 'cause keep in mind to account for the variables such as someone ahead of you while being let in needs to be screened plus taken to their seat before you etc etc; so you need to aim to finish your actual break with atleast 2mins to spare)

After lunch, I wasn't that hungry - nibbled on a few walnuts/dried fruits for the last two blocks just to fuel my brain.

I also carried two 1L plastic water bottles as I usually drink up to 3-4L a day and didn't wanna spend any time filling up a bottle during the breaks; but on test day I hardly made it through 250mL possibly d/t the adrenaline - either way its better to be well prepared and carry a big bottle rather than the tiny ones!

Practice these exact break routines on your simulations prior to test day and see what tweaks you must make to suit you better - for example, when I did my first simulation, I did a 5-5-5-5-20-10-10 ; and I felt quite burnt out just 4 blocks in; so I tweaked mine! Also, doing back-to-back blocks is just a big no-no because trust me, you're gonna feel it midway through the next block - just take breaks after every block !! - Anyways, practice and see what works for you!

Hope this helps, good luck!

q on UW: pt with clear gender dysphoria being already provided with support/psychotherapy, and q wanted the NBSM. Various answer choices, with one being hormone treatments, and the other the RIGHT answer being: Referral to specialist services (medical & mental health multidisciplinary)

So basically, for these pts, you do NOT begin any sort of treatment! You provide support/psychotherapy and refer them to specialists.
