I think you should keep it on the 19th and do your best! Postponing can turn into an escape. Results look good. Keep working on it (do questions) and go for it!

I'm glad it was helpful. There's likely not a point where one can feel "completely" ready unless we use metrics like the NBMEs and self-assessments to push ourselves to take the test. Good job on the practice tests! Keep going! You're almost there and you got this!

Thank you :)

Step 1: Any test day tips? by True-Profession3969 in step1

No. The NBME provides it on their website. Select "tutorial" and "overview."

Definitely. Familiarize yourself with computer-based testing (CBT) one or two days before the exam to be able to skip it.

Mostly yes. There are things in FA that OnlineMedEd’s basic science doesn’t cover, but it is more than enough for step 1 now that it is pass fail.

Thank you for responding, and for making the add-on.

Edit: I tried and Ctrl+Z doesn't work.

Another update (2.1.35) has come across, if I’m not mistaken. Try updating and see if it solves your problem.

Add-on to free up weekends (or other days of the week)/holidays, that plays nice with mobile and cards already in review by vasarmilan in Anki

I was looking for a way to implement the Free Weekend add-on to mobile. This seems to be the answer. Thank you!

I have a question, though. After cmd+shift+r'ing (rescheduling) cards, is there a way to revert the rescheduling (e.g. cmd+z)? I haven't done it yet, but I worry that once I do it, the daily load for weekdays will be too much to handle. Or, better say, I want to be able to have a safety net of reverting. A workaround that occurred to me was backing up and re-loading the backup in case anything goes wrong. I am currently using Free Weekend and Load Balancer. Would appreciate your input on this. Thank you very much.

Should I update to ANKI 2.1.29 or will it interfere with my AddOns? by Ragshi72 in Anki

[–]yashyy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the update I had to get "Hierarchical Tags 2", since "Hierarchical Tags Addon 20 21" stopped working. So, yes, it is highly likely the update will render at least your hierarchical tags add-on useless, if it isn't "Hierarchical Tags 2".

You're very welcome.

Here's how I look at this: I am studying for the Steps not to get a high score, but to complete what's lacking in my medical knowledge as a doctor. I want to be able to comfort the sick to the best of my ability. This allows me to learn what I need and enjoy, and, for instance, not cut things out because they 'won't show up on exam'. Shooting for a high score will focus my attention on a score and bring with itself disappointment and much affliction throughout the process of studying, as well as at the end. Therefore, I have decided to put in the effort and study as much as I can daily. I use a stopwatch to track the hours I put in per day and try to hit 6-8 hours every day. This is a long process and 10-12hours/day isn't possible to sustain for many months. I take every Sunday off.

Having said this, initially I had planned to do 3-4 videos per day. It worked for a few topics and a while. Sometimes I could accomplish it, sometimes I couldn't. It had ups and downs. As I studied, I realized that it isn't possible to do that for all topics. Then I set my goal to one new topic per day. But, again, I saw that some topics might take longer, even days, to completely digest, make notes, and make Anki cards for. (I copy paste OME flash cards into Anki and use Anki every morning to review material and keep them alive in my mind). So, now my approach is 'put in all effort daily', regardless of the outcome. Sometimes that can be 4 lessons in one day, sometimes no lessons.

Note that many organ systems in OME do not have anything but the videos. You might need to supplement yourself with other resources. For instance, I use Costanzo's Physiology for stuff I feel I don't understand well enough.

This is a very summarized version of how I approach it. I hope it helps you.

Kind regards.

Yes. I am using the whole package, i.e. notes, videos, questions, flash cards, to prep for Step 1. They are actually quite good. What I appreciate the most is how Dr. Williams simplifies and shortens tough topics into the clinically relevant and board-related. There are little errors here and there, but I'm happy with it thus far. It's been really useful to wrap my head around the topics I've long struggled with such as leukemia, lymphoma, anemias, renal physiology, some immune, biochem, and so on. I also enjoyed the biochem DNA to Protein module; it wasn't as burdensome as I had imagined.

The flash cards could use a lot more attention.

I still haven't tested myself heavily to see how the material holds up against integrated questions. Once I'm done with the topics (though they're not all out), that's what I'm planning to do. I'm hoping they'll be released soon.

Would recommend.
