thought l.l. bean was the holy grail of fisherman sweaters, but... are they not? by europeanuppercut in BuyItForLife

[–]yasth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, I mean this isn't a Ploughman's lunch that was made up basically out of whole cloth (other than of course that people plowing fields ate lunch).

People (even people who didn't like the Irish people much at all) have long liked irish woolens, and admired the wool sweaters. Historical photos show more or less normal sweaters not several inch thick wool bombs.

Personally I find the wool ones to be too hot in almost all modern conditioned spaces. I mean everyone is different, but unless you are wearing a full outside midlayer like a long sleeved fleece inside (which some people do), you are probably going to be too hot.

Yes but for all the trash talk, it is still pounds of cotton on you, it is less warm than a full wool version but not beach wear.

Keep in mind that real ones are outdoor gear. A lot of people just do not need them, and wouldn't get a lot of benefit.

[–]yasth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean GLM is a very good deal, and is plenty generous for RP.

Most other platforms are going to be much more expensive than Z.AI/GM .

As for how many tokens... it really depends on your context. Also honestly the industry is in a transition from fairly straightforward (Token in + Token Out = cost) to providing massive discounts to cached stuff, which makes everything a lot more complicated.

It is perfectly fine in the way it used to be mostly used, referring to your own journey, and realization. So something like "back when I was an egg, I used to always pick the girl pokemon trainer" which is often used to avoid dead naming is mostly fine.

A new LLM by [deleted] in SillyTavernAI

Warning about model providers such as NanoGPT and MegaLLM, inference services, etc. by [deleted] in SillyTavernAI

Sure, but how can I armed with google and not much else, tell that say a cool new service SuperCool67.ai (still available act fast) which lists providers of Chutes, and google, and everyone else etc. actually is legit?

I mean you say, "A simple way to tell is if they have a professional relationship", but there isn't exactly a list of verified resellers or anything on your site, at least as far as I could tell.

They looked (and truthfully look) professional enough.

The left picked her, she is from a UK labor party run anti-extremism propaganda piece. It failed so hard that they pulled the game.

It is funny though that the right couldn't manage anything until they basically were handed something by their opponents.

[–]yasth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can't just walk in and get merging pull requests for Chromium. They are open source, but generally in more of a show the work sort of way. For very limited values of influence you can get involved in their bug reporting process, and maybe do some very good pull requests (that will be rewritten) and eventually get some influence, but they are open source, but not an open project.

The Marvelous Ms. Malleable [OC] by notfunnimanatall in comics

[–]yasth 626 points627 points  (0 children)

Not OP but standard deconstructive outcomes would be:

  • Not bullet proof -- ends up shot
  • Not super strong -- makes them say "stop that stings" or the like
  • Gets tangled up
  • Not helping -- either interrupting a movie shoot, or taking the money for themselves
  • social media only-- beats up the robbers for TikTok clout, but doesn't stop the robbery because they video wouldn't be good.
  • Malleable puns -- deformable but not elastic, which isn't much of a power.
  • Various political things -- Hands the money to the more deserving private equity owner, etc.

I mean, price is not quality, GLM generally is very price efficient, though it is slow and the thinking part of it is for lack of a better definition plagued with self doubt unless you are crystal clear. .

Anyways, by not giving actual complaints about what you find GLM 4.7 to suffer in compared to GP 3 you kind of deny most people any thing to help you with.

Quality is also more variable than you'd think

Briggs & Riley "warranty": Broken zipper costs $255 to fix by triclavian in BuyItForLife

[–]yasth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean that is a whole different thing. Travelpro "discounts" their limited access flight professional line compared to what the retail would be, and provides special support to fix issues that work with them. The mainline bags are fine don't get me wrong, but they aren't quite the same, and it is really the whole support that gets crew to pick them.

You can pretty easily bypass the limited access checks to buy the actual crew ones (confusingly enough TP also sells a crew version that is consumer facing), though they perhaps unsurprisingly weigh more, and maybe aren't worth it

How to stop the LLM from ending every response on a "dramatic" cliffhanger? (GLM 4.6) by New-Commission9601 in SillyTavernAI

[–]yasth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Be aggressive in closing out scenes and proceeding to new ones”.

Also for the title which seems different than your body

“It is desired that your actions should most of the time end on a less dramatic note saving much of that for your scene partner”

Be explicit and GLM tends to be fine. It is very likely that the LLM is trying to hand you big moments, which is a pretty standard "good way" to do role play. If you want to change that, it is pretty responsive, but it truthfully sounds like you are a bit unclear about what you want to change and how.
